  5. paid, put me down guys
  6. the white steering wheel and ducktail & roof spoiler combo sound familiar ;) keep up the good work Josh
  7. also, in-between/before crying about having a dead engine, ive been painting these i bought another intercooler, only a cheap one, but the pipes wont dangle down underneath the bumper. and still more parts, some of the gaskets are now pointless now im going to have to buy a head set
  8. Picked up a spare block from Rob (because he's awesome) on friday afternoon, and set to work on it saturday. it had started to knock so i still had to strip it and asses the damage. one spun shell and one melted into itself. wear in the main shells. little ends are seized from oil starvation bit of wear on a con rod bit of wear on the crank to be expected so all in all, a very savable engine, even if i do have to mix a conrod from my engine. still needs a crank grind and a full set of bearings and little ends, but i can live with that. started cleaning it up now i knew i could use it first coat, still wet second coat, still wet not bad for a days work.
  9. last year i drove down for 2 hours of the show on sunday and the pub lunch! this time its 15mins from my house
  10. terrible terrible things were discovered today. pulled the sump off, amount of silicone (quite likely bathroom sealant) used is a good sign of a shit engine build pulled a con rod cap and main bearing cap off to check the wear on the shells. everything went downhill from there. metal in the sump after cleaning the oil out the bottom kept on pulling it apart after that, the bad news kept on coming in waves In short, the whole bottom end is FUBAR. In more depth, the cylinder bores are oval, no.1 conrod is bent, crank is worn, main bearing cap broke. Need a new engine or bottom end really. usually i would prefer to repair what ive got, so i know i can trust it, instead of taking a gamble on a second hand engine with no history that could have similar problems, but in this case, it would cost me the price of a forged engine just to repair it to standard spec. still cant get the smell of burnt oil out of my nose
  11. I'll be there, i will be a day late and straight off a 12 hour flight, but I'll be there.
  12. Back to work on the GT, got the block mostly clear enough for paint. Spot the mistake ^
  13. I didn't buy the car off him unfortunately, otherwise I would be contacting him instead of bitching and moaning on here
  14. Even the write up about the body work is bollocks, it's not clean, it's had rust repaired on one rear arch, it's got scuffs down both sides of the front bumper, the roof has been painted and masked badly it's got dents on the OSF wing (and probably other places, but I havnt washed it yet) it's had a sticker on the boot removed with a chisel, the bonnet has stone chips from top to bottom, and some strange lacquer problems. If the paint is shit, just say 'age related marks to the paint' it's 20 years old for fucks sake
  15. As for the name and shame... i'll just put it out there that if this is a user on here, i really dont care if i upset them. mis-selling a car that blatantly doesnt have the majority of modified parts fitted is not ok in my book, i can accept the bodges, the oil leaks, the unsafe rear seats, and can even accept the bent mot. i wouldnt have minded if it was just 1 or 2 parts that were lied about, but when its almost the whole spec list, its a bit different. He obviously knows enough about starlets to know that listing a lot of these parts would be hard for most people to spot that they were not fitted, seems like he probably breaks starlets from his ebay itmes too. seller user name on ebay is: ep91shak249 from Rhyl, North Wales item number was: 281549239654 and link to original listing: Link and for when ebay delete the listing, here is the write up: For sale is an clean Toyota Starlet Gt turbo , 1995 quadlamp model , finished in metallic black paintwork , looks and drives very well , without any issues. Engine runs fine and pulls well in all gears , running safe 1 bar boost , no knocking noise or oil leaks , gearbox was re build using uprated diff , fitted with 6 puk clutch kit and short shiffter , very smooth tight gear changes. Very responsive car , also been serviced every 3-4 thousand miles. Bodywork is very clean , no signs of rust , or damage , roof is very clean not fading like most , all panels are straight , there a few marks on front bumper and the bonnet, but overall an clean for its age. It has an rare aftermarket aero body kit , side skirts front and rear bumper spats. Brakes have been uptraed using toyota levin front calipers and grooved discs all round . Modification - Front mount intercooler with short run pipe work - CT9 re-build turbo ( Hybrid ) - Hks adustable acuator - Hks relocation air filter kit - Auto polished inlet manifold - S/steel custom full cat back exhaust system - S/steel de cat pipe - S/steel wepr manifold heat wrapped - Uprated ffpr - Alloy civic rad with slim line radiator - Wolbro fuel pump - Magnecor ht leads - Baileys dump valve - Pro sport boost gauge - Alloy cooling panel - Jdm yellow foglamps - Kyb gas shocks with tein 40mm lowering springs - 16" pro race light weight alloys with good tyres all round - Levin front calipers - Drilled and grooved discs - Omp style steering wheel - Short shifter kit - Paddle clutch - Aero body kit - Cat 1 alarm with pager Overall an good example , very reliable and well set up motor . I have misplaced the documents for the car , i have sent of for new v5 , mot and taxed , have reciepts and jap folder with booklets. Any inspection welcome , NO PART EX . 16. Day three in the big brother house gearbox (that was supposed to have been rebuilt 7000 miles ago) was filthy, so i got carried away with cleaning it also pulled the turbo side off and found a nice big crack, so got the welder out and filled it up. not the neatest of welds, but its not the neatest manifold. will be having a few days break now while I'm on a course
  17. Day 2 in the big brother house So my parts pile for the starlet is growing. Also my stock of parts storage is getting out of hand. As for where I stand with the mis-advertisement, I'm not too sure, because the guy I bought it off only had it for a week, the guy he bought it off was the person who listed all the parts not fitted, name and shame might come soon
  18. I know ;) When are you going to get me to come and help you with your car for a change?!
  19. Me and aaddzz123 started work today Found out that more parts that were listed were not fitted: Levin callipers, LSD, Paddle clutch, Hybrid ct9, Kyb shocks Not exactly a good buy john, but I'll keep it going. So we pulled the engine and box
  20. House > Drift, Mr Socks, as long as the GT breaks half as much as the Soarer then I'll be happy
  21. Ok, so I'm not really new, although I don't use the forum, but many of you already know me. Been to the last 3 (ish) JAE with UKSO, been on stand at the last 2 Japfest2's all in different cars. Current car, which was at the 2013 JAE and 2014 JAE for 2 hours on Sunday, was my manual single turbo Soarer, which is soon to be mapped and sold. So I've been on the scene for a while, but finally decided to buy myself an EP82, I needed a car that was cheap to run, tax, maintain and repair. Most importantly, it needed to retain a fun factor, whilst still looking like a normal car and not too 'in your face'. I don't have massive plans to go big like the soarer, would like to keep it simple, clean-ish (paint is pretty bad up close), and reliable It already has some mods, some of them tasteful, some of them not. FMIC hybrid CT9 HKS actuator HKS air filter relocation Crapspeed manifold Crapspeed decat 2.5" straight through exhaust with HKS back box (pipe fitted in back box for too many noises) Sard fuel pressure reg walbro 255 pump magnacor leads Baileys dump valve Greddy FCD cooling panel Civic alloy rad Fleabay electric fan 6 puck paddle clutch KYB shocks and Tein 40mm springs Levin front callipers drilled and grooved discs fake OMP corsica for mega skids y0! stupid alarm/immobiliser (it is nice to have remote central locking though) yellow fogs bodykit stuff some OEM bits that you will geek over like climate control already made a good list of things to do, in no particular order: pull engine and gearbox out replace crank seal re-seal sump painted rocker cover with new gaskets clean engine bay of excess leaked oil heli-coil slave cylinder threads on gearbox replace vac lines with black weld in centre silencer and re-build/repair back box heat wrap manifold/de-cat/exhaust extract sheared bolt from rear seats to mount safely fit rear seat belt buckles replace front seat belt buckles fit interior pillar trims replace idle control valve replace cut down gear shifter replace gear gaiter replace gay gear knob with even gayer gear knob fit stereo fit front speakers replace oil pressure sensor repair missing captive nut for drivers seat replace rear brake calipers major service inc cambelt, plugs, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, gearbox oil, magnetic sump plug paint FMIC and piping black replace FMIC silicone for black with mikalor clamps repaint wheels xenon candles jap size number plates catch can Nardi steering wheel tidy up ghetto looking parcel shelf Remove fuel cut deffender reduce boost from 1.0bar to 0.8 and adjust fuel pressure to suit repaint fuel rail and strut brace fix flicky dash bulb I wish I hadn't have listed that... Most of the parts are already ordered, engine and box should be coming out this weekend and hopefully going back in next weekend! Shorter the work takes until the car is finished, the happier I'll be. I already pulled some of the crap out whilst cleaning the inside of the car, including china boost gauge. Also I would rather have no seats in the rear than unsafe seats, hence why they got pulled out straight away. I might update this like once a year, so don't moan at me!
  22. will be tagging along with the convoy in the Soarer guys, got a Soarer stand to go on this year though
