Surely if the wastegate wont open you'd be getting over boost?
You would think so!
obviously the boost is bleeding off somewhere
small crack appearing in diaframe from gate i think ??
Wastegattes been fully rebuilt and checked by Owens mate

we had a external wastegate (that was genuine) that needed piped up in a way that seemed incorrect to allow it to make boost.
was a fella on here with a red glanza V

But it worked fine before mate, then the boost just suddenly crept down, literally no reason behind it either!

Mesh can restrict it or have you removed any form of filter to eliminate that
No filter is currently on the car mate

Check airfilter isnt blocked. I had a problem where turbo wouldnt boost. Tried everything, turned out filter was blocked

Car lasted 4 days before another problem had cropped up.
She won't boost over 0.5 bar and the external wastegate won't open up.
So far, waste gate has been rebuilt with genuine new diaphram and seats all checked. All new vaccum lines, turbo removed and checked over, the whole pressure system smoke checked. Boost solenoid checked over and works fine.
So yeah, at the moment it has myself and some very clued up people extremely confused.
In the mean time new exhaust and some pictures of when she was last out about 2 weeks ago.
Centre silencer is now gone. The only silencer in the system is now the one pictured one the left, and that's at the rear.

Love this, sick of seeing huge turbos on starlets like!!
I get that a bigger turbo gives you a higher scope for power but its all about drivability imo.

yes i get it i am on a stock ish engine at 1.1/1.2bar its so much more driveable then a tdo4 round town tdhs is faster ha ha
im happy the turbo is suiting you well just perfectly sized

238 ??? something not right there i would expect more but still 1.4bar under 3500rpm is very good going torque torque
Nope everything's fine from what I'm told, no smoke, no boost leaks,
Probably due to the massively oversized inlet, or the small air filter.
Either way I'm mega happy with it, just what I'm after, so drivable and still quick enough in a straight line.
Not chasing figures

Full boost at just under 3500 rpm.

Im not sure mate, I had to look through a lot listings until I found a 54mm filter that had the dimensions to fit in the space I have avalvible

make sure it slopes down a bit the oil return as its a long section
It does mate, took me a while to get it right last night
haha sometimes you need abit of jinx to make things work
Anything I jinx on this car usually breaks....

Sorted out my oil return last night, before it had a big kink in the middle where it was angled to suit my 28, and obviusly that would have caused the oil not to flow freely back into the sump.
So I sorted that with some stainless tube
Also my sump was annoying me, looked a bit grotty, so I cleaned it up and got the heat resistant metal paint on it.

On the forester forums most seem to think 1.4 bar is the limit mate, so I'm going to stick with that for the moment

It's 0.65 bar, was new 2 months ago.
Currently it won't boost past 0.5, hence why the screamer isn't opening up
