  1. Hello and welcome!

Good choice on an 82 😉

A little word of advice, pay the extra and get a nice example. Don't jump at the first one you see.

If I had my time again, I'd probably buy an ex-members one from here. It's what I should have done.

Fabulous cars absolutely love them. Just mines never worked!

Be good to see yours when you get it!

  2. Familiarise yourself with the different models available to you.

So you can have UK Spec EP91's which have been modified to look like a Glanza. You don't want to pay JDM tax on those, I.E. they should be cheaper because they are replicas. Nothing wrong with the replicas, the calibre and standard they can be built to they could be better than JDM ones. With JDM ones have stronger internals, gearbox and disc brakes all round.

Then you got Glanza S - The JDM models which on the surface look like your all singing all dancing models, without the turbo.

And your Glanza V - The Turbo JDM Model, which I assume is what you're after.

Someone on here recently mistakenly bought the Glanza S - Non-turbo.

Cars getting on a bit now, so check for smoke on start up, smoke on boost, smoke on overrun. It's typical for something of this age and a hot hatch.

Check sills for rust etc, the norm that you'd expect for an old car. They have plastic trims around the sills so you won't see if it's rotten at first glance.

These cars don't crash too well at all. So check underneath the boot carpet for crumples, and the front crossmembers.

Gearboxes can be getting on, check for no crunching between shifts etc.

    Cheers nick.

Not if the harmonic dampener is not threaded.

I Just used a bearing puller.

So works in a similar fashion, but it uses claws.

I did have issues with it cracking the edges, ultimately I drove a metal wedge between the pulley and the engine block...

  4. Also, if the turbo had failed, then there is bound to be oil left over in the inlet tract etc, so maybe it's just that clearing itself.

Have you driven the car a lot.

Ay, it may seem expensive, but it's £400 for something that should last 60K miles. And if they provide warranty etc, that's good value for money.

  5. Cracking GT Pal.

Love to see them over in the states.

There is a guy on here who is from NYC too!

Well worth getting in touch with him.

My geography is awful, but I remember distinctly he doesn't live too far away from the flying saucers that featured in Men In Black 1 😃

  6. Mental price though and you would have to see how it compares with the market in general, I.E. Is there something similar on the market which is perhaps grander in nature

Interesting to see it being offered in the 4wd platform though and the fact it boasts a 257hp from a measly 1.6 is impressive.

Mental how much these things weigh in at. Ita the same weight as an Impreza Spec C from 2005!
