  1. Lots more wiring done, should be firing it up next week Have a dyno session booked up on the 23rd a Feb and Brandshatch trackday on the 27th 👍
  2. It's really taking shape now. I've fitted the yamaha R1 fuel pump ! Prop shaft has been modified to suit, exhaust has been finished inc modding the manifold to suit Gearbox mount has been modded Radiator mounts fabricated and rad installed Loving the engine bay now, also have the rad top mounts made up, and in the process of doing a stainless steel bonnet stay also. All this work has lead me onto getting some custom coil overs made up by GAZ SHOCKS. Better suspension also warrants better brakes, so que the custom 1 off WILWOOD set up, shocks and brakes should be ready in a few
  3. aaddzz123 Best bit of advice is to get another head, and just get stuck in, do some research, watch some YouTube vids and enjoy. This is the 2nd head I've done, the first was a mazda MX5 which I ended up turbo charging, there's a load of pictures in my photobucket of that too. I removed too much material on that head, but still worked great, and was a good learning curve. I find it very rewarding doing heads.
  4. The diff is the standard open item I'm afraid, will be getting a LSD when funds allow. It's a 4.1 ratio though Bottom end is just stock. I don't know what T50 box it is, tell me the spline sizes and I'll measure mine, would be good to know.
  5. The old wheels have already been sold I'm afraid. Yes I done the head myself, took over 20hrs to complete, I'm sure some folks will pick holes in it, but I done my research and im happy with the finished product, hopefully the dyno results will speak for themselves
  6. Here's some pics of my finished head work, also got some Tomei cans and adjustable pulleys for it too. Also done a fair bit of work to the combustion chambers Lots more pics here for those interested http://s66.photobucket.com/user/avalaugh/library/4age The list of things that need modifying to get all this working is huge, don't start it unless you can finish it
  7. Sorry folks, been busy getting married Also been busy gas flowing my 4age cylinder head, progress has been good, hoping to have it back on the road by late Feb. What months Banzai ? If anyone wanted to post me there old copy Had a few magazines get in touch about a feature when it's all done, so looking forward to that. Don't think this is just a show car either, it's booked up for the Nurburgring in October too
  8. Thanks guys, must admit it is looking dam good got a few tricks up my sleeve yet Got started on the 4age again today, heads off ready to be ported and polished
  9. Bought a T50 box now, not cheap but I've gone this far and not going to start cutting corners now.
  10. Please sell me you spoiler ;) Can looks great mate, pull your finger out and get it on the road, these old cars need to be used 👍 Now mines on the road it regularly see's the stop, on trackdays ;)
  11. My mate just bought a 4age and type 9 to go in his MK2 cortina lotus rep. From what I've read up on, the k50 and T50 internals are about the same except the T50 is hydraulic and K50 is cable ? You got a KP too Bean ?
  12. Bean, I'm still looking but not found one for sensible money, you have one ? I'm thinking of getting the bell housing on my current 5 speed box modified to suit the 4age, but that will also mean getting the flywheel adapted also
  13. Have also ordered a set of these wheels in dark bronze
  14. Been a very busy boy, but the car is almost done Just you guys wait till you see it now it's all back together, just need some dry weather to get it out the garage. Also neatly finished building my 4age with R1 bike carbs
  15. Need some odds n sods if anyone has a starlet they use as spares ? Parcel shelf Rubber trim around front wipers in slam panal Boot carpet Bound to find other parts I need too. Thanks
  16. No sticking with the wheels, I really like them, obviously need a refurb but they're 8j so just getting some hub enteric 25mm spacers to suit. They're genuine made in the UK Starmags, not the current Chinese made starmags.
  17. Really been cracking on with it. Got the old tired 2k and 4speed gearbox out. Fitted a low mileage 3k and 5 speed gearbox. All glass, trim, clips, latches, locks removed bagged and tagged ready for paint
  18. Exhaust now made up, very pleased with it. Picking up the engine and 5 speed box tomorrow. Still struggling to find a suitable gearbox for a 4age so possibly going down a tuned 5k route but time will tell.
  19. Engine next up for the chop a long with that fooking horrid exhaust system.
  20. It's amazing what you can do in 11 hrs.
  21. Just about ready, need to bleed brakes and put wheels on All under sealed, in arches and floor pan done too.
  22. Busy last few days on the car with a long week ahead, it's booked for it's MOT on the 9th, then same day it's into the fabrication shop where the front and rear valences are getting repaired.
  23. The arches and skirts are staying, unfortunately the front and rear of the car had been cut off and an odd bodge DIY valance carried out. I'm replacing the rear with my own version and the fronts being slightly softened, loosing the harsh edges. If I could buy new panels I would of probably cut it off. It's differant for sure and gives the car Characture so I'm not too worried. It's never going to be a show winner.
  24. Going to run bike carbs, where are you based ? The engine to be honest is the easy part to locate. The gearbox is my worry, they were a weak point anyway on the corollas so often got junked anyway.
