  1. Hi Guy's & Girls Started the cage last month and progress is slow but moving along. In the mean time Was looking at the dog box manufacturers, as there are 5 I found. but was not happy with most of them for many reasons. Using a C52 casing now .... Talking with Zisco As there is absolutely no point looking at Samsonas if they make them only to suit the C150 case and the only diffs available is Quaife to my knowledge. They were far from helpful.
  2. Hey ... Thanks Stu ... Quite Interesting indeed I would be relieved to know where and when it may become a drama with FWD as I was expecting to hear there would be huge torque steer Stu. But out of all of those I read about, I would trust you ! ;)
  3. Hey .... Thanks ... Man I'm sure glad we don't use dial up anymore I got sucked in there although I was impressed in the content. Seems like he has a few ideas which may come from an older head. Great efforts for sure. Thanks ... Knew about the cams but I'm still confused about how Stu said the rockers are known to be weak with revs. Possibly one could heat treat them depending on steel. Would be interesting to see what could be done with the heads as they appear well primative.
  4. Hey ... Great to see you having a go with almost everything You dad must be proud ... There's nothing like thinking out of the square. Which you seem to have adopted more than a few times. Personally I hate anything to do with NOS but good to see you learning about it as my bum knows more about duck shooting then I do NOS But each to their own. As for the pic's .... I made dinner for two, fed the dog a full roast dinner after taking her for a 5 klm walk. and then sat down to eat my dinner after a shower ... Phew N that was just waiting for the first page pic's Huh I wa
  5. Hey ... Let's hope so .... As I said they only want a vehicle to look exactly as it should. I mean I even have to run the correct grill for a pre 1986 car ( Stu can you post up what you think is right please ? Reason I ask is because there is a whole army of pic's on Google showing EP70's. Not having the homologation papers yet i don't know ? Thanks in advance Cranks ... No not yet and spoke to Dane at Spartan and I asked if I could buy one first to check ! ) Now there is need for panels I called him to ask today ... Strangle very well priced to supply two of everything Having said
  6. Hi Guys As heading ... Just curious if anyone has tried to make one go quick. I do appreciate every reason why you wouldn't but if I had to ... What degree of performance could be had ? I'm already going 4E but would have liked the challenge. The main restricting factor being the 12 valve head and it's flow / volumetric efficiency ? Don't really expect any interest but what the heck I've'e asked
  7. Hey ... Opps sorry, I missed you post Stu I simply just present the car as an EP70, with the appearance of one with appropriate panels etc. No need to actually have a correct compliance plate as to speak ! So I will just take them off ( When i say them there is a secondry Aust Import Plate attached ) You have someone in mind for my compliance plate then As I need some STD EP70 panels soon !! Wish I was there as I'm sure someone would swap panels. Laters
  8. Hey ... Thanks there. I like to try to do things as best as possible ... Am no coinsure, but a tad fussy with some elements of fabrication. Correct ... Group A Homologation mandates this, due to timing/release of both the EP70 paperwork and also the EP71 being separate issues, at different dates etc. I shall put up the paperwork ( As it cost me 60 bleeding quid - Not ) So I simply must share the love ! It's not Homologation that is tight, it's simply international rules for years of manufacture/ entered. So should you want to run any specific model in a race that's it's r
  9. Hey ... Thanks for your comments ... Appreciated and understood But ... Not at all as there's heaps of EP70's trying to look like EP71's around If you read through you would realize there are no EP70's in Australia ! to me Further ... The thing has had a Cut & Shut. If you don't know ? that's a new front end, replaced and joined at the lower A pillar and across sill and floor section in front of both seat mount rails. ( Strangely it's very straight as I plumbed if F-B / Diagonally ) This really lessens the value big time, in my opinion. As no one wit
  10. What kind of intake temps does it have with such a big fridge stuck on the front ? ! Good time too ... How much torque steer does it have ?? As concern i have with what I building ? Look forward to new updates.
  11. Hey ... How things have changed The class of racing here for modified street looking cars, is called Improved Production. Of which I have followed for many years, while racing Mini Cooper S's in historic racing. The year model ( presented for log book ) dictates early or late model entry in Under 2 ltr or Over's with over's being up to 6 ltr. You can run pre 1986 as early model and after that late model applies. If I run late model ( As the EP70 series started prior to 1986 and finished after, one can choose which class you want to present the car and run in. Should you
  12. Hi Chap's / Chappet's if there is such a word ? Rather than plod on with this I have started a build thread under EP70 - EP71 Later's
  13. Hey ... Thanks Mr Jordan ! I have just spent bloody hrs admiring your tenacity, patience, and also for acknowledgement of every ones comments. Only downside it deprived me of time on my car ! as it's 10.07 pm here. Having to build a car outside reminds me of my first Lotus Cortina way back with only the inside of the house to admire some of the parts patiently waited for week after week. Seeing yours displayed during the build, reminded me of what a great mum I had back then, in good old sunny Margate ! ( Kent ) . A credit to you my friend ... And a pleasure to read. Thanks
  14. Hey ... Is it best to carry on here with my progress, or simply start a blog ?? Later's
  15. Hey ... Agreed John I'm pretty impressed too and follow it here also ! Nice one Andrew ... Credit to ya
  16. Hi There .... Sorry I must sound like a newb ! Rotated engine ... Ya got me ? Cheers .... Del
  17. Hi Stu Hope yours ( And every body else's Christmas / New year was a good one ) with plenty of time to catch up with those car jobs put aside for ages ! Thanks for asking ... Apart from a couple of broken ribs acquired early Dec, going slower than planned. But who does plans !! Little steps here .... Took over two dam days. But to me very important to sit right ! 1 ) Set up seat ( Moved seat over 3.1/4 " to get weight nearest to tunnel ) and to lessen ones internal damage in a big one side intrusion ! 2 ) Steering column all over the place till right .... Yawn ( Basically
  18. Hey ... Nice one Should be good on fuel too ! and being stored heaps less chance of being a Flintstones car ! Pic's
  19. Hey Thanks John Love build threads, so I'll see if I can present one which doesn’t create server drowsiness
  20. Hey .... Thanks. Sob sob .... They were good days ! Couldn't see the option but even at my age worked it out Thanks. Last one I had was from Southhampton - 1963 Pre-Air flow all the right bits with 43K on the clock for real even had the V5 etc Sold it to buy a house way back and then lost the house in a divorce loll Enjoy you stay in WA Sure is hot there at Chissy Thanks again ... Me too. I'm bound to need tech advice for sure. I'm told I'm anal about presentation with cars so may even look good yet. ... Go the " Poms " Man I wouldn't trade my accent for quids Who'd want to
  21. Hi Guys & Girls Looked at loads of great threads .... Thanks Joined up to learn learn learn ! As I have just got an EP71 to build up to race. After owning an EP82 road car for a couple of years, was wicked as .... Passed it on to buy a GTi-R Huh .... Yes I know before anyone says " What a Down grade ! " Ended up doing GTi-R grey imports for a few years after that but not the EP82. Live in the Blue Mountains NSW and involved in Motor Racing seemingly forever ! .... As I had Lotus Cortina's and Twinks way back Originally from London. After attempting to building an Evo to race in Impr
