  1. I hope your reffering to the drop in EGT's? ;) Length of the manifold doesn't really effect spool apart from the drop in EGT's over the length, 1 thing that is effected is transient response, but a 1.3 turbo is hardly going to excell in this area anyway. What's more important is boost pipe length and this will be kept as short as possible. If you had any knowledge of fluid dynamic's you will know the overall length of the pipe isn't directly proportionate to it's flow, bends etc etc are far more important. Whats more important is turbo spec, manifold design, cam spec's, head spec's, mappin
  2. The boost's all gone with a cup of T ;) I'm hoping for full boost at 5200, but i'm going to rev it hard this time. It seems late, but it's only going to be like driving a N/a vtec again, so i'm not that fussed. It's a twin scroll turbo, which helps with spool, and i'm going to run a divided exhaust housing with twin wastegates, this again should help with spool. Your right
  3. Here's the new turbo for the civic next to the GT28 for the starlet.
  4. How big do you think your engine is? The difference in the bit what matters is 100cc.
  5. Is he using Hondata S300? Launch controll's cool isn't it. I make just over 1 bar boost on the spot ;) Tell him to keep an eye on the old EGT's though, they go through the roof with 2 much retard.
  6. Like i said on brakes it'll probably use the celica 2 pots, but i was trying to make a point, if this was to be a drag car standard brakes would be fine. It's not actually that close to the rad, i made it as close as it could be without causing a problem, in the pic's it's not bolted to the head, there's probably about 15-20mm clearance min.
  7. I'm using that design because it's the most equal length while retaining the standard rad and having a good flowing wastegate, the gate will come from the 90 just after the collector. After extensive research i think this design will be best given the room and flow/style of the car. It's fully back purged 3mm thick, preheated V'd and with filler, what make's you think it will crack? Not sure what you mean? A shorter pipe from runner 1? I don't think that would be possible while retaining the design. Head to manifold flange was made up by a mate.
  8. You should have anyway, loads were looking around the car. The bumper was flaring out at the side's when doing high speeds so i cut the holes and it stopped it, must have made a reasonable difference. I wasn't putting down a lot at on the day. Probably only 300 ish. I reckon i'm over 400 again now, more boost timing and leaner but simply didn't get the time to map it on the way to TOTB and while tweaking between run's i couldn't get it right with only 4th gear for reference and 3-4 run's down the strip. What build have they done? Any pic's or links to it? B16? I'm currently involved in a
  9. Missed you at TOTB mate, had a busy hot day! Here's a couple more pic's of the Starlet at the minute.
  10. Here's a couple of pictures, I did some work on this last week.
  11. In a word badly, but i suppose it wasn't all that bad considering. I had a puncture the night before (stranded on m1 at 11 with no spare) so had budget tyres on the rear, i fitted off a mates car at half 11) Set off at 6 and by 7 i was spannering the turbo off at the side of the m18 after a pretty caterstrophic failure. Anyway with 10 miles to run in and map a new turbo i suppose we did ok, i left the car on the rich side, which with the high inlet temp's and compensation maps the car was really rich on the strip. If you've got any pic's or vid's stick them up here. Yes i was. Site'
  12. It run's again, just running it in, will probably map it again tomorrow.
  13. Stock brakes aren't the best, but there not the worse on a car. It really depends how you brake. Rather than spending money on brake's next time, i suggest a lesson on driving. I've got 15" disc's and 6 pot's on my evo, if i drive like a tw4t they'll fade just like any others. 90% of what contributes to good brakes is the pad material. If you put big front brakes on your car and try to stop from 80-90-100, standard brakes will probably beat them 9 times out of 10, they will be more consistant and better setup than the average joe messing around with things. What they won't do is last as lo
  14. No i took the middle out of it.
  15. Just picked up some new injectors and the block back from the machine shop got a bit more work to do on the block then going to put it back together later this week.
  16. It should make over 250 at 1 bar boost. Not sure on the power and boost level that will fainlly be run just yet. Why are big brakes a must??? I have some celica twin pot's for it anyway. But power has nothing to do with brakes. Gaz- Yes 750's for the civic.
  17. Yes and if you look carefully OEM injectors... Do you think it'l work ;) It will have a 2.5 inch downpipe and full mandrel exhaust. Civic's fully stripped at the minute, i'm hoping to get the block prepped tomorrow and picking some new injectors up, then making a new manifold ready for TOTB.
  18. Well, i've made a start on it, turbo will fit in standard location, the manifold is going to be pretty cool, i'm going for a fairly long header design will be nearly equal length/bend and have very good flow to the gate. ;)
  19. As far as i know this is the quickest on street tyres yes. Deffo the quickest at brunters where i had it timed. Liam_D, Yes it is.
  20. http://www.bajanchameleon.com/5efhe_project.html Sorry but there are sooo many errors in the above it's unreal.
  21. Haha, cheers. No engine in it, took it out the other day, new 1 will be done in 2 weeks ready to be run in for TOTB on the 27th!
  22. Yes it's mine. Eagle rod's. YCP piston's (modified) Standard block just honed/glaze busted. 0.004" p2w clearance at largest point. ACL bearings Gen honda head gasket. ARP head studs. Modified oil pump original 144k mile pump Modified block and girdle for rods to fit. Head work by myself. Cheap cast manifold, (soon to make a new 1 but you never get time to do my own car) Hondata s300, socketed and mapped by me. 6 paddle clutch, custom flywheel, (extra clamping force) Lot's of little bit's to make it all come together. At brunters it did 0-30 in 2.07 0-60 in 4.76 (did 58mph at the time i
