Bought Vogtland springs, 35 mm lowering springs. Fitted them now a couple of months back, and seems to be no difference in them at all from standard springs apart from the front is a tad lower, a bit disappointing, so if anyone thinking of buying any don't bother, the rear springs are the same size when you put them next to original glanza springs, i would like to send them back but don't think i can now with having them for a couple of months now. They seem softer than original springs as well, i can tell this even from pressing them in by hands. I've had a couple of makes of springs over the years and come to think of it they have all seemed softer than original glanza springs, ive had tein springs pi springs and apex. For me tein and pi have been best, apex good to if you don't want to go to low but still better than these vogtland. So i know it's normally a big no no to chop original springs but in this case if stiffer than after market lowering springs i reckon it's worth a try. Just the backs im going to chop a bit off me thinks, what's people's thoughts on this? They will be on kyb shocks.

    Hi guys!

    I have a 1995 starlet gt turbo ep82.

My auto gearbox is screwed so I need a replacement! Does the auto ep91 gearbox fit? Or do I have to stick with a gt auto box? I know a bit about cars but gearboxes are my idea of a nightmare! I have found a few ep91 auto boxes hence the question, but am struggling to find a gt box!

Thanks, any help and advice is gratefully received!

How many miles has your auto gt done and any mods more bhp? This is a big worry for me as i have a glanza v auto.

Can it be fixed? I've been thinking of getting a spare auto box but just can't trust sellers these days.

Hope you get it fixed soon

did you recently fuel her up?
there's thing about about E10 fuel in the news which definitely isnt good for our cars

Yes i did, had about quarter of a tank before so went to top it up to half way local tesco garage, i normally put Unleaded momentum 99 but this time i put Unleaded 95 in, drove home fine parked it up next day it was ok upto about 5 miles driving then that's when it started to play up.

I had time to play around with the car today, put new spark plugs in NGk bkr7 because i checked the plugs and was NGK 5 thought that could be the cause but didn't make any difference, I've cleaned idle control valve as well still no difference.

Disconnected the battery fiddled around distributor cap with rotor arm connected battery and its now running fine, drove it around for a blast all is good . Don't really know what ive done to fix it or if i have fixed it. Like you say could be fuel, I'm back down to running on empty, what should i stick in it? Also think i might get some comma petrol magic cleaner.

  5. Started up fine, drove for 5 miles 30 zone fine, stopped at a set of traffic lights for couple of minutes then car started to rough idle low idle, so set of normal as you do seemed to lack power and sounds like running on 3 cylinders then 4 and 3, depending if i try to push acceleration a bit, gets to a happy mode but push some more then running rough and when travelling up a steep hill the car would not go past 20, started to smell and smoke as i got half way up, then settled down again on flat no smoking but still hardly any power. I thought i wouldn't make it home today and didn't really want to keep going but didn't have much choice, hope engine not fucked, coolent seems fine, oil looks good and didn't over heat. Can't here any strange noise from engine apart from if i try to rev which it struggles, then exhaust sounds like a subaru.

All i can think of is the standard cat is knackered blocked up or sparkplugs

My glanza v is 100% standard with low mileage

Any help will be greatly appreciated

  6. Past and with emissions test, local garage put it through emissions test for me before they did mot. Wasn't expecting it to pass with standard cat gutted but it did only just. Mentioned my rear brakes need looking at that's it, discs are good and I've put new pads on so not sure what's going on with them.

  7. 20th May, makes me wonder what's going to be next, petrol and diesel cars could be banned by 2030. Will future classic cars be worth anything if we can't use them, people will just get rid.

  8. How's people been getting on with the new mot rules.

My glanza needs sorting for next week so been trying to explain to a couple of garages about if they can do the none cat test on my car and so far it's not gone down too well with them, I'm getting the impression that they think I'm trying to tell them how to do there job, one guy told me to go look in the book online so told him to go look in the book haha.

Have managed to find one garage that's prepared to do a none cat test as long as I say it has the older gt engine fitted before 1993.

What do you reckon? Shall I just go with saying that then. I do have a cat on but I have gutted it.

  9. 1k for cheap jop, for 2k you should be getting a top job,  5k bloody Ridiculous. Only small cars, I've been getting quotes for my roof to be resprayed 1ao silver  base coat then lacquer £250 and front bumper £150 rear £150, does a top job to from seeing there work. Dearest quote I got was £350 for one rear bumper which I thought was too much.

If you just want it red then a gloss, doesn't need lacquered. shop around I reckon you can get that 2k down a bit more as long as you see what work they do And your happy go for it.

    Get rid of the custard
