It wouldn’t surprise me Sam, the GT’s are lovely looking!
Next to be done was sorting the interior a bit. There was no rear interior, no carpet and a mismatch of front seats. Got hold of a near complete mk1 interior including a dash that was in better condition. So, every trim was removed and replaced with the interior I got after a good clean.
Feeling much nicer inside was time to head out for a blast with a mate to the purbecks.
Cracking drive and even got the better of the 33 coming off a roundabout for a second gear pull 😁.
After seeing the photos From that drive I realised that although I liked the look of the unknown 17” wheels, they weren’t right for the car. 15” team dynamics ordered with fresh ns2r to boot. I’m a huge fan of the simple 5 spoke appearance! Of course the suspension would need sorting to get it sitting right so, Meister R coilovers front and rear were my choice after reading reviews right here on ukso. These were to take place of the tein springs with standard shocks. Whilst fitting these, lower arms were removed to have polybushes, track ends were replaced and outer CV joints too ( offside clunked on full lock ). Once all done, tracking and camber set using old school gauges at my place of work.

So the time has come to take the engine out of my GT which means, I should and want after a long time to get some sort of a progress up for people to see and comment.
January 2015 I picked up my mk2. Needed a lot of love but the price and location was cracking for me.
A couple weeks later some changes were made. Standard exhaust and nur spec back box (with massive hole in 😢) were swapped for complete Japspeed cat back to go with the unknown decat already fitted. Cracked standard exhaust manifold swapped for Jperformance unit and, eBay intercooler kit with idworkz hot pipe took place of a bottom entry/exit intercooler that had Audi coolant pipes attached and no right being on the car! New triple core full length radiator also took the place of the original unit. I lacked on taking photos at this point, but
engine bay picture in the midnight dark and as I said, no picture taken of all the new parts fitted. (School boy error)
That’s time for tonight, I’ll get some more of the cars life in my hands up tomorrow evening.
thanks, Tom

I will be ringing td in the new year to order a few other bits so I’ll ask if they can help. Couldn’t see them on their site, just the standard box ones which as you mention are different. Fingers crossed mike can source them.
cheers for the help nick -
Wanting to put new driveshaft seals in my factory LSD gearbox, anybody know of a place to get hold of some?
many thanks

Very nice BMX, outstanding work 👌🏻

10 year challenge dominated, looks spot on! Surprised to see standard struts still?

Top man, thanks Toby.
I bought the car without air con so wasn’t aware those were associated. The evaporator was on the bin list 👍🏻 -

Oh, and the gearbox was the first refresh that time allowed

Thanks for the reply. Tuning developments slipped my mind, they actually have a description of what hoses are included, in which are the ones I’m after. Think I’ll be ordering from them.
thanks again!

Hi all, hoping someone with experience can help.
I'm looking at buying the Roose motorsport ancillary hose kit. Does anybody know if the coolant pipe at the back of the engine and, heater hoses are part of the set?
Many thanks, Tom

I haven’t seen it again since I last posted. Don’t really see many about this area

Mimtu, thank you very much. I shall order a motor for a new shape swift and see if it will work. Very impressed and thankful if it does 👍🏻

After a nearside window motor for EP82
many thanks, Tom

Bought my gt with no headliner in it. I’m wondering if the headliner is a complete unit on these or if it’s just fabric glued up?
Any help appreciated, Tom

Seen again in the same area, if you’re not on this forum then why not!

Thank you all for the info,
I got a little excited when I saw a positive towards the aem but, it seems maybe their name is better than there true product?
I will only be running a speed vision ct9, external gate, but would like to keep true tabs on what is happening.
The plx is an American product from a brief search? Is there a UK distributor?
Thanks again, Tom

Opinions and experience with wideband kits, which are good and which should be avoided?
Many thanks, Tom

Anyone with experience down south would be greatly appreciated, good or bad

I shall bear you in mind thanks fiske, you’re not a silly distance away from me. Won’t be looking at doing so until mid year I expect.

Sorry to add to this but struggling to renew myself.
Had an email for renewal but when following the links it says my payment method isn’t accepted, even though there wasnt any option of payment method nor any way of changing it.
Thanks for the help in advance

Hey all
I am putting plans in place to take the engine out of my GT for a basic rebuild/tidy up along with changing to external wastegate. Once this is done I would like to put some mappable management in place.
Question being, does anyone from the southern region have any recommendations for a mapper and what ECUs they are familiar with?
many thanks, Tom

Next on was a bit of ancillary. Gen 3 turbo direct from speedvision, and yes I got caught with the import tax 🙈.
Red intercooler piping to go with my overall colour scheme. gfb boost controller, new genuine dizzy cap and rotor, new iridium plugs and red magnecore ht leads. Made, tested and confirmed by carol herself, thank you carol!
Thank you carol, cracking job!
