A few on TGTT have applied this method too and they have no problems.
Do which ever you are comfortable with mate. Both methods basically work, but one method brings better results
-
I used the Motoman method...search it.
Basically he says the first 20 miles are crucial for running it in. I was reving to almost 6,000rpm within the first 20 miles
Oil and filter change was after the first 20 miles also to get rid of all the metal filings, it is a good read and worked for me. Here is the link actually:
-
alan jefferys? who? what?
Think he means www.enginetuner.co.uk
-
People comment on how nippy my car is too for a 1.3.
-
No mods needed, just stick it under the strut brace like me.
-
yaeh i know he was running stocks in there. just a good tune.
im worried about bending the shafts if i launch like that. they are only tiny :\
Rick,
Been told its stock shafts mate.
-
gee, do you know if that was on the stock driveshafts.
im too scared to launch that hard :\
Not sure, will try and find out.
Stock internals thou, no forgies..
-
11 sec QTR.
This is a 5EFTE thou and set off from 2nd gear.
-
I know of 3 Starlets that have run 11's.
One was in Malta (might not count) and 2 in Aus.
EP's are definately not setup for drag, but they are capable of putting down great times for a FF. But this ofcourse = BIG £$£ AND knowledge.
When it comes to high powered FWD and RWD, there is no comparison really. RWD FTW.
I am running 275hp now and I am a QTR noob! I have run at York before and the strip is a disgrace. I get better grip on the road. I may go to Shakespear and give this QTR mile stuff another try and try put down some decent times.
Got a few things to sort out yet thou...including a QUAIFE
I am still on standard cams and have no head work...already used to the power. Everything feels slow again, but I aint pumping anymore money (well not a lot...yet) on the engine. Need to sort my exterior out and fit the bits in my attic, including some carbon goodies.
Rick,
Is there a thread to your TD06 build?
-
Doubt a tuner would lend you one, but you get get them from www.greenline.jp I think...maybe also www.rhdjapan.com
Some Ebay members I think sell them too.
-
What sort of work are you wanting to get done?
If it is general service items, you will not have any issues, but if you want actuators fitting, boost controllers fitted extra, then try:

www.autofixed.co.uk

This a dedicated track car then or are you going to be using it on the road too?

**TAKEN FROM TGTT.Com for anyone interested**
OK guys,
Instead of the meet at York Race Way which I posted HERE it has been suggested that we actually go to the Elvington RWYB day on 23rd March 2008.
The benefits of this are:
- It is used for TOTB so the strip is likely to be better condition than York Race Way. Actually, I've have been before and it is better.
- It is a RWYB day ONLY, so not messing around watching Beetles, just runs all day.
- It is usually not very busy, so you get a lot of runs in through the day.
- It is right next door to York Race Way anyway.
Prices are usually around £5 entry and then £40-45 to actually run. I would recommend taking a little bit extra anyway.
You have to wear a helmet when using this strip. Now I have been advised that they do rent helmets, but you need to get there early to get one. On the other hand, others have advised their is no helmet rental, so I would recommend borrowing one or buying a cheap one. Why pay £10 every time you go to a QTR mile or track day, when you can pick them up fpr £30?

Secondly, ensure you wear clothing that covers your arms.
You can find directions for Elvington by the following :
Elvington Airfield
Halifax Way,
Elvington

Or the web URL of:

I will PM everyone else that put their names down on the other thread with this link. So to start...

Read all your blog mate, very impressive stuff.
Need to get my car weighed too.
-
Your car is meant to run on higher octane fuel as it is a Japanese import, so you will notice a difference.

Aint Akki's anymore and it is minus the K26.
-
Yes it is a daily driver.
Reliability issues? The block is all forged up mate, not standard internals, plus I don't boot around @ 1.4bar all the time.
-
Cheers guys.
Will try and sort some pictures from the meet tomorrow.
The car is all go and NO show right now.
Crappy 14" rims, no interior, bad body work, bits cut out of bumper etc.
