As title state I've had some work done to the black and want to clean it out thoroughly.
Thanks
-
Have you checked your timing?
-
Ok then, that's what I'll do, thanks for the help
-
I was thinking that but will it hold up with no lacquer?
-
As the title states my engine is out and I'm looking to refresh some areas where surface rust is starting to appear. The bay appears to be a pale grey primer colour from the factory and I want to maintain the originality, has anyone achieved a similar finish to this?
-
Mesh can restrict it or have you removed any form of filter to eliminate that

Very nice!

I have contacted the seller but haven't got a response yet, do others know whether they supply in the 01,02,03 grades Toyota mark their bearings with?
-
Do you have a puff of blue smoke on start up?
-
It's expensive but they are hard to get hold of.

I have two weeks of at the end of August so I'm planning to take my time putting it back together then.
-
Well I'm planning to take it out and strip down next weekend then deliver it to the machinist on Monday to check/replace valve guides, skim and hone. I've had a few people question me reusing the piston, I feel as long as the piston and bores aren't out of tolerance they should be fine. The engines done about 135k and had 10 years at 1 bar on a CT9 it puffs smoke on startup and when ragging it so I suspect the valve stem seals and rings are worn.
-
I would just like to have people's opinion on whether once you have opened up your 4efte, has it lasted. I'm not talking forged builds but just a replacement of rings, bearings and seals. As all the standard rebuilds I recall have failed down the line.

Double post sorry
-
Looking good James you seem to be cracking on, how do you like the drive compared to the GT much difference?
-
Just stick a dial out gauge on the end of the crank and check the movement in/out or along its length as mentioned. I'm sure the tolerances are on here or tgtt
-
I went for the re002 and Im more than happy good alround performance, have no trouble hanging with most things round the bends.
-
Good build so far, your not hanging about!
-
I got a set of steel ones from drift works there spot on
-
I have teins and there perfectly fine, I have about twenty sipped bumps down road, the positive attributes out way going slow over the bumps.

Nice choice of turbo! Must pop over and see this, are you still on the same number?
