  1. The NA Starlet's are lightweight (and small) so round town in particular, they're nippy. And compared to say a 1300 Fiesta or Polo, they're quicker. They aren't exactly rocket ships though.
  2. Thanks Phil - I'm trying not to think about it!!!
  3. Welcome - there are some good examples out there. Just don't give up!!
  4. Seriously? Excellent. Thanks for the info.
  5. thanks for the advice. Out of interest, does anyone know whether the airbox is the same on other models?
  6. How strange - I saw these fogs a couple of years back on an otherwise standard looking car a couple of years ago - just assumed they were after market. I wonder what other accessories there are that I didn't realise about!
  7. Oh my God - that's a stunner!! Welcome.
  8. The perfect "mate" then surely  Welcome to the site - interesting to hear any news.
  9. Just had ours done (N/A SR), and the main dealer recommended 10w40 as a good all rounder. I know from previous experience that the they used to use GTX Magnatec when we took it to them for servicing. Plenty of choices out there though. Oh and definitely OE filter every time.
  10. Have literally just come back from having the cambelt, water pump (cautionary while the cambelt was being done - theoretically saves on labour in the long run), coolant, auxilliary belts, oil and filter change, and it took about 3 hours all in (and the bloke wasn't "on one" to get it finished).
  11. Yeah, it's due if you follow Toyota guidelines. £185 seems about right for a cambelt from a Main Dealer (I think we were quoted £180). You can get it cheaper, but I think they reckon on 1.8 (2) hours labour. Personally, I'd go to a dealer or preferably someone I trusted to do the work.
  12. I'm just about to get the car serviced - cambelt, coolant, oil and filter etc, and was just going to replace the panel filter with a standard element. But, what are the aftermarket options (just interested in panel filters)? I can only seem to find a K&N cotton one. What else is there (and what other models have the same airbox as the Starlet)? Thanks...
  13. Ah fair dos. Off topic - I'm loving your front wings Sparky.
  14. I believe the SR has different shocks from the factory, but the springs should be fine with your shocks (as long as they're not knackered). Nice looking car mate!
  15. Thanks again. The interior was done when we bought it - organised through the main dealer. I don't remember but I can't believe it was stupidly expensive at the time (it was a long time ago mind you). T1-R's for £31? For 195/45s? Bargain! When we bought the Yoko's, the Toyo's were the same price (just out of stock). I've had good experiences with Yoko's on other cars, and these aren't bad (just a little less sticky than the T1-R's).
  16. It is an everyday driver, but it only does 6-7k miles a year, and it's not driven hard.
  17. And even the de-restricted roads are under pressure in Germany. Stretches of previously unrestricted roads are being taken down to from what I understand. Anyway, as for our problems in Blighty, does anyone else think the same as me - that you'll just see a huge rise in cloned vehicles, or people running without number plates?? I've always advocated that speed doesn't kill, and on a motorway/dual carriageway? Give me strength!
  18. Nice. Liking the pillars and pods!
  19. I like that - nice and subtle. Where did you get the speaker pods in the doors from out of interest?
  20. FFS - thieving the stuff's evil, but why be a complete c**t and smash everything to pieces? I hope the blood was pouring from a vital organ!!
  21. FFS - I hope you're a good shot.
  22. I think it's a car that appeals to everyone.
  23. Thanks for the comments. We've used a few different tyres over the years, and the T1-R's suit the Starlet well. We've just swapped the fronts for some Yoko S-Drive's and although it's early days I don't think they're as good.
  24. Cheers Phil. I know what you mean about the decals. I liked them a few years back (and still do on the white ones).
  25. Thanks one and all! Yep - nearly new - 19k on the clock when we bought it from our local Toyota Main Dealer. It's fairly standard (clear repeaters front and side, and decals removed) and a retrimmed interior to replace the one thing that IMHO let the SR down. Nice and subtle... Some pics taken last summer... Retrimmed interior (excuse the flip flop...): - Cleaning freak (that's me): -
