Aslong as you get the head skimmed by some1 who knows what they are doing + prepare and clean the bottom block up properly its ok. Getting a head skimmed, chemicaly cleaned, crack tested etc can cost around £150+

Have you found the FTE you want? can you survive without the car? I`d rip the FE out, clean the engine bay/paint it etc, find the FTE, forge it?, do some headwork on it?, get some mods on the go, keep the old FE head and do some porting + polishing?....then when the time comes put it in n insure it. a ) You will just waste oil, time etc.... b ) Depends on how cheap you can get it (what if thats in the same condition?) c ) Illegal d ) Illegal

Yup....i looked at the car before i clayed it n you can just see shit loads of feint scratches where they were using the neverbeenwashed fakelambswool mit...... I need to get a polisher if i want it to look spotless, dont have that many man hours to do it by hand.

I clayed the roof, tailgate, wings....just the doors left now (it was toooo cold) Must say its made 100% diff, so smooth n shiney when you look at it n all the shit that come off Going to tackle the swirl marks now....this is the main task!! (that funkin car wash place made everything worse!!)

Bit pricey at £23 odd...you get 3x small clay bars + a box for them, quite a big microfibre cloth, the detailing spray, and a small bottle of wax? He said he`ll be at mine from 11-12 so when he comes we`ll head down....i did the whole bonnet and if anything i can see the swirl marks more but its REALLY smooth and shiney it also beads all the water well. Will take some pics tomorrow :surrender:

You get 3 small bars in the kit (3x2 inch) it feels like blu-tac, ill bring it round tomorrow n we`ll do a little patch on the bonnet.. It would take ages to do the whole car and good old british weather isn`t exactly helpfull...so what i propose to do is do the bonnet + roof and then all the other bits on separate occasions so its all at roughly the same stage then just maintain it.....not sure how long the clay will last too.

** cleaning update ** Morning, i went out and got a clay kit frm halfords....results (bear in mind i did it the lazy way, wiped the dirt off with a cloth from just a section of the bonnet) There was alot of shit on the bonnet, you could actually feel the friction between the clay + surface....now it feels, looks as smooth and shiney as bourkeys beast. 1) wiped dirt off 2) quick detailer + clay 3) wipe off with microfibre cloth 4) paint cleaner 5) wax 6) quick wipe off with microfibre what i would do next time 1) Wash the car/area 2) dont dry it leave it wet and spray on the quick detailer (this will save the amount of quick detailer you use) 3) knead the clay, you want a large as possible flat SA 4) clay lightly 5) wipe off with a microfibre cloth 6) paint cleaner 7) polish wax 9) quick wipe again
