  1. I also hope the n/a gearbox holds up :)

Yeap I'll double what scutch0 says. I don't think you'll have any problems. I've seen a handfull of starlets here, with a 4E-FTE using the N/A gearbox, on cars of around 180hp with quite high torque figures.

So regarding strength, ( unless it has not wear off), you won't facing any problems.

You should only worry if the gear ratio will fit your driving style and the use the car is build for, but from our chats I think your on the right track :p

  2. Well guys I measured the cylinder compression last week and I took quite healthy figures. So I took my car to my mechanic, had a 5000km service (oils, oil filter, cleaning air filter, etc) and I also changed the bloody valve seals.

When the valve seals were taken out they were in a very bad shape and they almost "float" on the valves. Now I'm going to check the oil level every 500km or so to see if the problem is fixed or if its something else wrong.

  3. You wont need a wideband will you as the tuning place will have all that??

Yes, I can do it that way as well, but I'll have to pay for at least one hour on the dyno + tuning the bloody thing. In the end of the day it will cost me almost the same like buying my own wideband and tune it on the road. Plus I will have my own wideband to make further fine tuning with future upgrades

  4. So after a long waiting I've received this....

Here is a trial of what the possible layout will be

    th_14102008823.jpg

Now I have to get this fitted and tune it. But in order to properly do that I'll need a wideband as well (and my mate that had a portable one, sold it with his car :) ).

So it may take a little more than I've expected... :)

  5. Cheers for the comments guys. I'll change the valve seals by the end of the month and have another compression test just to make sure.

A tubular inlet manifold is in my short future plans, so I will definitely give it a go, although I don't know what will happen then with the low range torque. But there is only one way to find out.

I have also noticed that the engine is probably running quite lean and I have to short it out (I have already ordered a piggyback, but hasn't arrived yet).

  6. Well I've finally managed to go for a dyno-run and unfortunately the results were as I was expecting them... BAD.

97,3hp and 96.7 lbf/ft torque was much less than I should have seen based the mods I have.

My engine is in a very bad shape lately and it burns A LOT of oil. All the outer seals have been changed and now the next logical step is to open the engine and change the valve seals and maybe the valve springs as well.

After doing that I have some more items to add and go to the dyno once again to see if it made any difference. Anyway here are the result and the dynosheet

    PASEO DYNO RUN

    Rule power: 71.6 kW (97.3hp)

    Wheel Power: 54.2 kW (73.7hp)

    Dissipate Power: 14.5 kW (19.6hp)

    Engine Power: 68.7 kW (93.3hp) @ 5390 RPM (155.7 Km/h)

    Max Couple: 131.1 Nm (96.7 lbf/ft) @ 4514 g/m (130.4 Km/h)

    Max Speed: 6192 RPM (178.9 Km/h)

Soon a video of the dyno will follow ...

  7. Thats awsome mate!!!

Really like it. non colour coeded bumpers the lot :p

    Suprises a few people I bet :p

How did you go about teh conversion, custom made looms etc or swapped for Glanza looms?

They fabricated a custom loom for LHD using a Glanza one (GT actually). He actually made all the turbo swap/conversion by himself along with some friends help. Everything except the loom.

  8. i was aware of the zep brake kit but was not sure of the discs you used, how did you go about measuring the adapter plate for the caliper?

also how much of a spacer is used for those discs, they are lovely, did you require any modifiacation to the actual discs as i remember fiat calipers having a smaller pcd?

I'm not 100% sure if it was the Coupe 20v Turbo, but no modification was made on the discs. I think that the specific model has the same pcd. Also I think that they alternative use Nissan GTiR discs for 15' wheels fitment but I think that they need some modification in order to fit.

The spacers I used are custom made and they are quite small about 5mm. The adapter plate was fabricated by a pro brake specialist that I have the whole kit prepered and fitted.

    Here is how they look

    and the spacer

  9. Well guys I didn't went into details because I could write down a whole essay, which would be quite boring to read. Except from some things that Joz has cleaverly thought and pre-arranged to correct I saw some other things missing. The main conversation (which was a long one) was about if the parts that are used will be matched properly in order to get the result that Joz wants and what are his initial goals and expections of this engine/setup ...bla blah blah...

I don't have any intention NOT to share anything usefull infos with you (in the end of the day, thats what such forums are all about). Don't get this wrong I don't want to offend anyone or play it "super mystic wise-guy" I just didn't find it suited to make a post out of the blue saying "This is not good, this is too big, this is too small, do you have this? have you consider that?" etc etc.

  10. Thanx once again for the comments guys!

How lush is the TTE splitter for Paseo's like :p

Its by far the best splitter for the Paseo (at least thats my opinion) and man I was waiting around 2 years to source one and I gave an arm and a leg to get it, but it was well worth it as it was the last one made and it was brand new in its box (although it is discontinued 7 years now :p ).

could you tell me all about your brake setup? like where you got the idea to use those calipers and what discs you use?

if you have those calipers a brake master cylinder would help more. have you considered that?

in the second last picture there is a na sleeper ep91 in the midle, whos is that?

Well its quite a common brake swap for jap cars, mainly for Nissan's, but I've seen it in a couple of Toyotas as well. Plus Zep makes a kit to be used with this calipers. But I was on a budget so I've sourced a nice pair throught ebay and fabricated with my mechanic a custom kit. If I remember right (not 100% sure thought), we used aftermarket rotors that were originally made for Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo and had some custom aluminium adaptors made for the calipers. I also shaved the "Nissan" logo and paint them red. The only down side is that I had to get some custom spacers and wheelnuts in order to have proper clearance, plus no more 15's (or a spare wheel) for me. :p

I've consider using a brake master cylinder (and will probably do in the future when I'll have the money).

For the time being the brakes are satisfying (specially with the hp I'm running) and they are quite progressive, which I like. I'm only afraid that it may cause wheels to lock more easy under hard braking (my model is missing of ABS as you can see from the engine bay pic).

The green "sleeper" is a friend of mine (aka NosSystems but he doesn't use nitrous) that on the last dyno made 172hp (crank) @ 1bar on a hybrid CT9 setup (stock internals) and in sort time the car will be able to work 1.2 with a better mapping that didn't had time to make before the dyno. :p

Lovin your work thus far Pierros.

Keep it up and hope you get those few things sorted.

    Thanks for the lengthy chat.

    p.s Casshern is nuts lol...

    Talk soon

    Joz

Cheers Joz, nice talking to you too. Hope everything will go as planned with your project :p

p.s Yeap Casshern is mental ...
