Been back on the wheel game lately and I've been desperately lookin for a set of panasport g7 c5c..
Took me literally fucking ages to find some and when I did the specs were insane, 18x9.5 et20. Perfect for my gtr
Unfortunely being cheap they had a few issues, one was cracked on the inner barrel and the other had a flat spot and two cracks on the inner barrel and they were red in colour as well. I guess somebody in jdm land hit something pretty hard with the front wheel and then the rear followed...
Not being forged ment me and my brother could get to work and make these rare and lovely wheels perfect again.
The wheels in question
After a visit to my brothers machine shop the flat spot was sorted and the welding carried out. I bought some tyres and test fitted them onto the car
Now we all have inspiration right ? This is mine
Period correct in every way and I've always said if I get a gtr it will be looking like this !
So next on the list was a stripdown and trip to the wheel specialist for some colour
After a bath in some super strong paint stripper for 5 mins they came out bare aluminium. I haven't uploaded these pics yet but will later. The barrels are now black and the faces speak for themselves
Got to work on the lips, now not being a vw person I cannot have any kind of gay polished lip lol I can't stand that so a little hand machining and polishing bought them up perfectly and all of the bolts had an ultrasonic clean and they are like new as well
They are currently sat at the shop now waiting for the sealant to set and then Monday they can be refitted.
I will upload more pics later,
If anything this has made me want to start doing the whole wheel thing again..... it's a shame my company has taken over my life or I'd be right on it

Nice wheels amazing price, wish more people were as realistic with there wheel pricing like you !
Somebody buy these bargain wheels
-
Fucking hell lol, some people do try it on
-
Lovely wheels good luck with the sale, just edit the spoon bit out lol

Been so busy lately I forgot I even had a car lol
Bought me some wheels
Set of panasport g7 9.5x18
Already contacted vr wheels in the states and am having a set of custom lips made to take them out to 11j on the rear.
Then I will use the rear lips for the front set as they are staggered.
Other than that I've not really driven it and to be completely honest my dc2 is more fun lol. That and the really annoying thing is my work van that's mapped to an inch of its poor life completely destroyed it to three figure speeds so it doesn't actually feel very fast.
This problem will be sorted lol
-
Yep t1r's are definitely the problem, terrible tyres in the wet and on track
-
Bump for a bargain, I'm just about to spend this on a just a pair of 17x10's for the rear of my gtr..
-
Cat c Yaris with rotas for 10k lol what on earth is the man thinking
-
Second this fuck money 2-3k doesn't look as nice as a Glanza or gt on the drive plus you will just waste it on other shite the little Toyota will last a long long time. Longer than 3k 4k 5k 6k you can always make more money it just depends on time just put it to one side imo cause one day you will have plenty of time with nothing fun to drive in Moss has had loads of cars and he still can't sleep at night haha listen to the Moss!
Yes, listen to moss lol, I had to buy an m3 and a gtr on top of the dc2 to forget about my old mk1

Dont you dare sell it keep it.
cheers nick.
take this advice trust me, i made this mistake in exactly the same circumstance and have regretted it since. If you can afford to keep it do so.

Try jessie streeter mate
-
Then no, they will rub a little dependant on tyre choice you are going to run-10 off the standard offset with an extra 1.5" over the standard width. A little arch roll/pull and an adjustable Panhard rod
-
Phew I thought rare rims had got in for a mo lol
-
That massively depends on the fitment mate. What diameter wheel do you want ?

Ms1r yummy

Hey guys
In the future i was planning on getting a set of wheels from Japan i would need to save up for this so wanting to know who people used and a rough price? I've imported smaller stuff so i know all about import tax etc. And it would probably be a set of sa3r's I'd be getting so from the auctions i can get a rough price on them too, so who have you used and how long has it taken? Will I really save on JDM tax that is applied in the UK?
There are plenty of ways to get wheels at the correct prices, they are cheap in Japan but shipping can easily ruin that and import taxes as well lol. I use Jauce.com then go to a nice man I know that does all the bidding after I give him money. Then the shipping is the bit that can hurt lol but it all depends on how long you want to wait ? I normally go 48hr but that's after they have gone to the japan contact and then to the uk before getting sent to me. If they come over on a boat it's a lot cheaper but it takes ages. Then it's a 50:50 wether the import tax man wants his bit.
Basically it's easy and cheaper if you know the right people but they all have to charge a little for their part in it, that's the way of the world.

Try other wheels xD they're just Rotas anyway...
Comment of the hour lol
I run hi spec 6 pots under a 16" volk ce28 et32 and they have 10 mm clearence.
Maybe just run a lower offset wheel

Cheers man, interested to hear, cause prob very applicable to me as I have to use road legal tyres (though some Tarmac rally tyres are legal which i use)
Similarly to you Tim, I start 26front and 28rear and that'll lift to 36-34 after first practice (few minutes after sitting) and then set to 28-30 and left at that for the rest of the day
Will take more care to check throughout the day next event. Have to buy a tyre temp probe thing.
Phil
So once you have set them hot down to 28-30 what's your cold pressure after they have sat for a few hours? Let them cool and don't adjust the then see how the car reacts when you take it back out on track, I bet you add a couple of pounds after warming them up, this was the scientific part I couldn't understand.
I will contact him today and get him to write me an explanation, he's Jensenracing on Facebook, he is like a bible of information
-
I will have a word for the correct explaination on this mate as I simply cannot explain it myself
