    When i put my car ingnition on about 2 secs after it makes a noise too i don't know how to describe as though lol but it makes some sort of noise. Could be related.

    My bro use to own a diesel Starlet, we sold it to a friend. The thermostat needs replacing is it the same on diesels? The car is a 1995 N plate Toyota Starlet Solida 1.5 diesel automatic, I'm guessing it will be the same thermostat.
