  1. Hello All,

As sad as i am i have been looking through ebay at what is being sold for the starlets ;). I have noticed meany times that that forge pistons go for about 500 and the conrods go for about 400 hundred for the forge ones. I saw some on ebay which i have never heard of before for 200 has anyone seen these or used them before?

  2. we get shafted everyway possible in this country it's a joke. It's awesome yous don't have to pay it. My advice would be to use JDM auction watch If you are bringing in a car. I know of plenty of people that have used them over here and never once have I heard a bad word said about them nor have I heard about any of their cars clapping up shortly after arrival. Buying a car you cannot see in person before hand is always a risk anyway.

Yeah that is what i am worried about. When i bought a car to import to the uk i used an company called DNA cars which are no longer trading due to cars coming in with issues so i heard. Mine had a fair amount of issues that i heard from the owner after me. I never really drove it hard but not to sure if they did but the engine, gearbox and turbo failed very close after one another. I was told by them if something goes wrong with the car then they would sort it but i had a few little issues with it but they were not sorted i had to do it myself.

The worry i have is if i purchase a car and collect it at the dock and notice that it isnt running right or what not there is nothing i can do about it. i still have to have the car and sort out all the issues myself.

But i guess that is the risk you take with this but like you said they sound like a good company i have heard good things from them also from there facebook page. But if i am not mistaken they get the car check by there contact in japan that goes over it to make sure all is well. Do they check it over when it hits the UK as they have to be there at the dock to sort the paperwork out to pass it over to the customer is that correct.

  3. JDM Auction watch are based here in Ireland. The guy who owns it is a real car enthusiast and really knows his stuff. I personally will be using these this summer to bring in a Ae86 twincam.

wow now they are some serious money mate lol.

I am tempted to do the same just trying to figure out how much it costs to register cars i believe it is £55 to do that. Only thing i have a worry about is if a car is bought and something goes wrong with it is there any form of warranty or something for a couple of months.

  4. Hello All,

I have been looking online and I have been looking on line for car importers has anyone used the below companies.

    JDM car auctions

I have been told about this company from another member they are based in japan and the do all the finding, buying and shipping but you have to pay the import tax the registering, pick it up from the port and everything

    &

    JDM auction watch

This one does all the finding, importing, shipping and import tax you have to collect it from the port or they can deliver from extra but they do all the hard work.

  5. I've heard dcy europe are really good but they aren't the cheapest

no they are not i spoke to them about it and they said to me regardless it will cost me 6 grand.

Get in touch with them on FB they get back to you pretty quickly. Not sure about the price on GTs man but before I bought my GT I was going to import my own glanza from Japan and it was costing me 4.500 for a totally immaculate untouched Glanza delivered to your nearest dock. They'll find you any car you can dream of.

Do they sort out all the paperwork like shipping it to you registering it and all that within the price mate.

  6. It is a long long process. When i did mine a few years ago i had to pay half up front then it was all down to the search which the company does on your behalf. They will send you a list of ones each day if there are any on auction mine took about a month to find the right one this can take less or longer. Once that is done they will put the bid in for it if you are lucky then the paperwork will start that will take about a week due to the time zones and what not. Once that is all done then you will have to wait the long hole of 10-12 weeks for you prize to turn up. Once it turns up it will take another 2 weeks for all the paperwork to turn it into a uk car. The company you use should do all this for you including an MOT. Mine when i collected it came with mot and tax but had a oil service and cambelt change as standard. I was very happy with my purchase as such but had a couple of little issues but that was the company i used. I paid 3000 for my MK1 tomz starlet and i would do it again but they have now gone up massively in price to import.

  7. Its a 25+ year old engine design for a small hatchback, Toyota are hardly gonna equip it with direct injection!!

We're lucky to have EFI multipoint on it haha never mind direct injection!! Most hatchbacks back then still had fuckin carbs.

Not all brand new cars today are even fitted with half that list mate.

Yes the 4EFTE has flaws but get a good standalone in there with decent sensors and sky is the limit really.

Thanks mate still seems like it is a car that i would like to have another one.

  8. I totally understand where you are coming from. My old MK1 was the dogs bollocks it looked amazing inside and out and was quick. I only had it for a short space of time i imported it and had her for 3 months before i had to sell which was a heart break. But from what i found from the owner who bought it off me the first thing that went was the turbo after a little while of owning it. A month after the gearbox went then after that the engine blew. This is the worry that i have with it i see a lot of people have reliable cars and some dont but saying that a lot of people are right as they have the correct mods to cope with the extra HP. But like you say there are rough ones out there but you can say that about any car out there. I currently have a Leon Cupra R which i love i had a yellow one a couple of years back which was nothing but bad news almost blew the turbo as the owner before treated it like shit and bodged everything on it but this new one is amazing well looked after and to be honest the engines are bullet proof.

Just saying i get 40mpg out of my 300bhp gt on a run

    wow mate that is brilliant.

  9. No problem, the glanza is a great learning curve for me regarding tuning, as it's all pretty fresh to me, likewise I know my cars but learning them is never ending. Supporting mods - boost solenoid bridge.. (someone please correct if I'm wrong) so that the factory two mode low & high boost is disabled so you run high boost only, adjustable actuator, fmic, exhaust, mines currently using an fcd but the car is coming off the road soon for td04 swap and some proper management, fuelling, mapping etc. StuDoc I agree with you on the VXR front, I have two mates with them always complaining about fuel. I travel around 30 miles daily to and from work with mixed driving, with any other little outings included probably 200 miles a week, which a full tank can just about see through with exceptions.. I had a diesel ibiza before the glanza churning out a steady 50+mpg all day which you could probably drive to the moon on a full tank lol but overall for what the glanzas and starlets are they return exceptional fuel economy I must say ð¤

Cheers buddy. Well depending on what i buy does depend on what i have to do :) i might be lucky enough to get something with good mods but like i said i will strip the engine down new gaskets and inspections including maintenance. I might be lucky enough to have a good spec but there is an issue as i really want a mk1 and has to have the mk1 interior as that was one of the best things on my old mk1. It was modified on the outside but stock on the inside. Old dog new tricks lol.
