  1. All service parts and most of the parts on the car are brand new. The engine was from Hawwy on here. He run a td04 set up from what I believe and not for many miles.

I'll do a compression test at the weekend and see what I get. Was done a while ago when I first had it running. The mapper had to adjust the timing as it was out by a tooth. This could maybe have caused the problem?

    hawwy? Oh god.
  2. I've never had one apart that's had any form of gasket or sealing agent on it.

I bet they took the thermo out completely on yours... hence no oring so it would leak, thus using sealer to try and prevent it.

I had to bypass the stat on one of mine once, I had to cut the centre of the stat out leaving just the outer ring and oring. It would not seal without the oring understandably.

If you have it apart and in your hand you can see the oring will seal it.

  3. You shouldn't have any problems with no gasket clean the face of the housing up with a stanley blade if it's got old paste and crap on it same with the base that's on the block. Get the stat and seal in there nice and square and try again.

What kind of people did you buy it from

  4. i like tdo5 from subaru there a top end big punch turbo , power band is a tat smaller/narrower then on the 04 but kicks harder

agreed. You adapt your driving to suit lag if your going for a rolling drag sit the car in high revs then the boost response is instant.

    Cheap turbo for big power

  5. Yeah I have mudrutz on facebook. Can't wait for the milk run to dry out missing the summer like mad!!! Would love to take a look at the 4paw I came back in to see if you were about after watching police have a whinge at the guy doughnutting that amf c63 black edition with the camards and spoiler but you'd moved on and couldn't see the 85 parked in tgi

  6. For 450 as a minimum I'd recommend

    Cusco LSD

ORC ogura clutch and lightened fly

    Wiseco 74.5mm pistons

    Pauter rods

    acl bearings

    Athena head gasket

    Coil on plug ignition

    Suitable standalone ecu

    3 ish inch exhaust system

Turbo wise most go with garret maybe try precision

    head stud conversion

    aftermarket inlet

    decent size front mount

    exhaust manifold to suit turbo

    Downpipe to suit turbo

    Tial wastegate

    gauges to monitor things

    cams

    head work?

    5e?

    nos?

    water meth?

    Knife edge crank?

    list goes on and on.....

  7. they are all the same my parents have virgin and we pay over £100 a month its a rip off and the internet is nowhere near what it should be. i had sky when i had my house and they were the rudest people ive ever delt with had to install it at my parents or pay off the remaing months on the contract.

That last bits a fuckin lie. Virgin tried this with me got a different customer services on the phone a few months later after not paying and they cancelled it for me.

a contract is voided if you move (apparently) (found this out after) so it cost me roughly a months membership to cancel.

  8. If your on a tight budget like most I would recommend a td/vf turbo as they can be picked up for less than a chinese unit. Although common they'll give you an awesome cost:smile ratio.

I'm not made of money mate I would probably assume half the forums funded by parents a few are rolling in it and the rest are scrimp and savers.

If your tight on money maybe consider if you can afford an engine build if the Chinese turbo fails and causes further damage.

  9. I had the same issue sending wiseco forged pistons and forged pauter rods to ireland to a well known member. They never arrived he said put a claim in I can almost garuntee they find them. Sure enough they were found and sent back swiftly to me to repost

They told me sending to ireland would be via air mail and tracking is not an option. I spent £25 posting them as I felt that was extreme and they were still only covered for £100.

I was very much in the same boat as yourself, get the claim form in and fingers crossed. Apparently between uk and ireland things get lost a LOT and just end up in a warehouse unless theres a return address
