  1. hi guys

im watchign a pretty sexy rev guage on the bay!!! but i dont know how to go about fitting one and making it work basically!!!!

what would need plugging in where. before i actually buy it i need to know how complex fitting is gonna be and if it will work on my car!!!!

    thanks guys :)

  2. hi guys

have been thinking about doing things to my car again now that the summer has arrived properly!!!!!

i have new wheels on photos to come when i have finnished cleaning them up!!! a steering wheel is on its way and i cant lower it on these wheels or it will scrape!!!!! and finally calipers are painted so nothing to do to the interior and exterior at the moment untill i have megga bucks!!!

now i am at the stage of wanting to beef up the engine bay with some tasty accesories!!!

i was thinking about an fpr, a strut brace, catch can and from there i am stumped!!! i will put a nice air filter kit on when i have done some fact finding and trouble shooting!!!!

at the moment all i have bought is a can of degreaser to attack the bay with, a pair of new battery terminals and am looking for a new subtle sports backbox and cool catch can!!!

my main questions are could i fit an fpr to my 2e carb engine and if so how?

and what else should i consider that is also inexpensive??

    thanks!!

  3. hi guys

i love the look of the fpr in the engine bay, i am just wondering how i would go about fitting it to my car if it would??

also what sort of gains or how much would it affect the performance of the car??

    thanks

  4. im with these guys!!! i havent even passed my test yet and i was offered a very very cheap 1.6 20v n/a engine the other week and passedit up because no matter how good it would be to slot that in my car it would mean i couldnt afford to drive my car when i do pass!!!! and i cant afford to spend £200 on an engine and then leave it in a shed!!!!!

im gonna be n/a for the forseable future!!!!

  5. ^^^^ I agree, IT seems one stupid post then every one gets overzealous and posts more crap!

I want an MX5, only problem, Insurance! x

i do agree that everyone jumps on the bandwagon and has a go, but in the same vain i dont think any member has the right to call the mods jealous or say anything negative about them!!!

i also want an mx-5!!! they are mint!!!!

  6. what a prat!

what would any of the mods be jealous of, the cars for sale? if they liked the items for sale that much they would buy it, or just say cool item wish i could buy it.

the entire mod team and all the people making uksc work from behaind the scenes deserve a medal. they are real people with real jobs, mortgages to pay or whatever. these are people who give up there free time to give us this club.

have some bloody respect or get lost.

and good luck with the sale of the mx-5 mate!

  7. wheels pretty much done now, just need to give the car a wash before i give you a glimps of how its looking!!

alot of work is planned over the summer to repair any wear and tear and to combat any rust sneaking through since last summers blitz as well as a few cheekt little mods to make it a very special little car

keep watch over the next few months!!!

  8. i dont know why everyones arguing. chill

some people can afford turbos some cant.

some have big bucks to spend on insurnace some have enough coin to push a little more out of their n/a.

we dont all have the wisdom of experiance, but we dont get wise without trying new things.

let us young ones be. if i have learnt anything in my 1year and 2weeks on here, it that the fun of a starlet is buying an n/a first tweeking it as much as possible, maybe throwing too much money at it and then either converting it or upgrading.

may my peace be with you all

    james

  9. Hard to come by, due to the owners being 90+ lol :D . Few pop up on ebay but also check the local paper and the sales boards on asda/tesco ect. Remember the oldies cant work a computer :D

I fucking LOVE 70's but there old and all need work :D , if i was buying one i'd want to do a full resto on it, money wise just now i'd rather put it into an engine and rape audis lol

with a 20v 4age blacktop and a stainless system it would not only rape audi's but also make love to your ears with the sound!!! they sound the sex with that engine in!!!!! proper wolf in sheeps clothing!!!!!

  10. good reply there from series70boy thanks for that

i actually a big secret admirer of the 70 series and have always said one day i hope to get a ep71 so its good to know if i do theres atleast one person with some good knowledge of them if needed

no probs at all mate, any info needed ill do my best to supply the goods, i really have geeked up on all the starlets as much as possible since joining the club building up as vast a bank of knowledge on buying, parts and modding (not just for the ep70). but turbo systems etc are a little over my head!!!!

all of the 1 litres are ep70 which only came in carb where as all 1.3 litres are ep71s including carb and injection models and as for the turbos they were either turbo s turbo s super limited or turbo r turbo r being the light weight model and the super limited being the top of the range model leared this as I've been a fan and owner of boxy starlets with a long time and owning a 1 litre carb ep70 xl, a 1.3 injection ep71 si super limited and a turbo s super limited.... there has been 2 or 3 turbos sold here in ireland in the last 3 months so keep an eye out on DoneDeal.ie

thanks for clearing up any discrepancies in my post mate!!!

all in all though thay are just like working on a mini!!! just as small just as light, but a little bit more electronical high tech!!!!

    james

  11. i dont like finance but if you know that you will be happy with the car for the duration of the loan its great. your paying monthly for the car. when you stop paying the car goes you move on get something else you will always have a new car with no repair costs doing it this way, but you will be paying intrest this way so over the odds for the car!!

starlets are great, i cant comment on the gt or glanza cause ive not been in either!!!!

starlets are easy to mod, fun to work on (most of the time), and a mint condition very tastefully tweeked old car is always more impressive than a mint condition new car!!!

anyone can own a brand new car and keep it looking hot but it shows dedication to have a mint old car, people will congratualte you on having a mint old car and it will comand respect on the road!!!!!

  12. boom!

if i had a like button id be liking that reply ^^

    thanks mate!!!

if a 70 owner cant know the shiz on a 70 who can!!!!!

my post may have looked like i was trying to scare you off but i had to warn you. they need an owner with a deeper pocket. thats why mines near standard (big update overdue pics in a couple of weeks  )

but i would recomend to anyone, they are the ultimate sleeper, a k11 micra lookalike with a touch more power and slightly sharper styling and more charm/personality than you can shake a stick at!!!!!

  13. i totally agree with the guys above,

but if it was a grand or so they owed you (or a sum of money significant enough to you), i would speak to your new potential boss tell him/her what the crack is and then go legal. if you have got proof that you were at work; time sheets; automated clock on or even cctv footage of you arriving and leaving each morning and night!!!! you have a case!!!!

they are defrauding you of money, they are in the wrong. contract of employment goes both ways. employees have rights and companys have to meet regulations you are entitled to everything as long as you adhere to your contractual terms of employment.

if you have friends or family that are solicitors or some other legal figure, get them to write a letter on your behalf stating your legal rights and threatening legal action. your boss will shit himself!!

  14. good ep70s are hard to come by!!! beige and silver ones often pop up on ebay.

they are usually a 1.0 na carb, you may be lucky enough to come across a dx or si model which were 1.3 efi na!!!

if you want a turbo one they are the ep71!! they can either be called the super s or the turbo s

there may be more names for the turbo ones. turbos are soooooo hard to find

when ep70's crop up they seem to be worth about the same as a sportif and turbos are worth the same as a good glanza. but if they dont have service history and low milage expect some work!!!!

they are reliable if looked after properly, if its showing signs of packing in dont expect engine parts to be easy to find, conversion is a good option!!!

and replacing rusty wings will cost you a fortune. my only quote ive been able to get so far is £127 each, everywhere else i went to cant supply them!!!!!! bumpers etc are avalible from germany on ebay uk buy postage makes them expensive.

all in all, try and find a tidy complete car purely for parts prices and keep some money aside for conversion, thats gonna be my next step when insurance has come down!!!

    hope this helps!!! B)
