thanks for all your comments again err the clutch... i do like it, but mainly because it grips so much better then the old fucked one. think it just may take some getting used to

03/02/2011 been busy on the interior this time ;) ive stripped the wood out the back and sanded it all down and re sprayed it white cheap days work to say the least and im well happy with the result. i dont think its a lot noisier either tbh. but the car does seem quicker. mind you it is missing a sub and a load of mdf lol. alsooo got some recaros off a local lad, he had them in his glanza but was selling it so i offered to swap for my scoob seats and a bit of cash, and he accepted. gutted for him now though his car hasnt sold so hes keeping it. i think there evo 7 recaros can anyone con

the spare engine i have at home that i was planning on re building: just spoken to the lad that took it all apart when it first overheated (big time) and he said he thinks the engines scrap, told him i have a new head and he said if i were you i wouldnt bolt a good head onto that engine. its not like he doesnt know what hes on about either, he builds 20K race engines for people and races himself in the ford saloon cup or something. so i dunno what to do now, the engine thats in the car hasnt got long left by according to the compression test i did last night. and i can neither afford it to

to right happy days, just always seems to be a set back. lost job, gearbox and clutch, now engine, just taking time to amass bits lol
-
your not wrong about the vauxhall bit. worse car ive ever had, to work on, drive or anything its wank. not like the starlet where a small range of sockets and spanners and you can have it in a million bits within an hour lol needed specialist tools for nearly everything on that car :@
-
yeah mate stock mani, but at standard boost also. so god knows whats gone wrong there lol. just age i spose. just gonna have to crack on with getting the other engine together. i think poking 1bar through it on a td04 will finish it off well and truely lol
-
isn't it ill be pissed off if it dont last long tbh.
-
Depends i spose. least ive got the cash now instead of it being sat on the drive losing even more money
-
a miserable £1850 ;) seems a joke when my mrs got a 1l corsa c on a y reg for £1800. piss take when you look at the spec of the 2 cars. but i spose its down to tax, insurance and petrol prices. that wasnt particularly good on any of them tbh
-
your not joking there unfortunately mate, just done a compression test and cylinder 3 was well down luckily i have a spare bottom end and a head waiting, but im gonna reconditition the whole lot so its a fresh engine ;)
-
in all fairness i got mine second hand but barely used lol
-
lol classsic ^^^ its sold last week, but for a shit price, couldnt give it away lol ah well least i can insure the beast for another year now ;)

http://www.ukstarletclub.com/forums/index...._item&id=75 i put one of these on mine yesterday and its top quality. grips perfect in every gear and good on lauch. ill be running 200 brake or there abouts soon so itll be tested then. but seems spot on for now and a fair price for a paddle clutch

im about 30 mile down the a1 from doncaster ;) but i dont mind a trip out -
the how to post on how to do it is in the tuturials and how to section ;) provididng you have a good selection of tools and some axel stands and a good jack (trolley preferably) you should be able to do it. im an electrician by trade but do have a lot to do with cars and farm machinery so spose im at a bit of an advantage but tbh it was ALOT easier than i expected, its not like you have to take the gearbox to bits or anythiing, just litterally drop it out, take clutch off, replace and bolt it all back together

does feel good mate your not wrong there. im loving the new grip of the clutch as well lol, the other was absolutely dead. no wonder it was slipping. i thought the only awakward bit really was lifting the new box back onto place and lining it up, starting to wish now that id put some poly bushes in at the same time :/
-
firstly i know this isnt a big deal to some people out there, that do this kinda thing day in day out or whatever. well i spent yesterday afternoon swapping my gearbox for a new one and putting a new paddle clutch in. ive never done it before and am really happy about how long it took me to do and how simple it is when following the guides on here. id advise anyone who's a bit apprehensive about doing work on there cars themselves to just have a go at it, take your time and follow the how 2's if your not sure. thats what i did and it worked out perfectly. it makes me feel ill now looking b
