  1. worth a shot i spose, does anyone have any clues as to what it could be?
  2. the one that is coming off the compressor housing atm?
  3. yeah both exactly as you say, i cant hear any leaks but i will see in the morning if theres anything coming out the screamer when its in garage, internal wastegate is welded shut and i cant see that coming open but il check as well. cant make it out at all
  4. yeah no boost controller as yet, ive looked on turbo smarts website, the vac pipe is connected properly, i cant hear any leaks coming from the system at all.
  5. sorted that out it revs now, but it wont boost, ive put my td04 kit on, everythings right as far as i know, got an external wastegate, and the vac pipe goes from the turbo compressor housing to the bottom connection on the wastegate, the one nearest the exhaust inlet side, this is right isnt it? coiuld there be anything else stopping it from boosting? it spools up when i rev it with the car in neutral but doesnt want to boost when engine is under load?
  6. would not having the lambda sensor plugged in stop the car from revving properly?
  7. spent this weekend putting the new engine in was planning on putting the td04 on as well at the same time but had a balls up with it so had to bolt the ct9 back on anyway was a good expereice and glad i did it myself instead of paying a garage. before putting it in i did the valve stem seals, re seated the valves and had the head skimmed. also painted the block with some direct to rust silver hammerite, but i did clean it up before painting, did the sump with some black hammerite. and sprayed the head with some halfords high temp paint. just went for silver on everything to keep it lookin
  8. heres the pics of what i had done, not on the engine, but ill get some more when ive made the kit up

    engine clean up

looks good mate, i did mine last week, used hammerite on the block and sump, but did the block silver and the sump black on the head i used halfords high temp spray paint, and its not showing any signs of moving yet
  10. the starlet is just a shell atm, but its had quid a bit of work put in to it by looks of it, had the channel or whatever you call it put through the middle for the prop shaft. looks like itll turn out to be a proper track terrorist lol i had a right game trying to find the place because it is in literally the middle of nowhere, real small place but that dont mean owt, ill get some pics up tomoro of the stuff hes done, i think i may mount it on my old engine so its easier to tell
  11. yeah i see, think im gonna do it tbh. gotta be worth tryin ant it
  12. ive ordered the wrap. so you think itll be ok for me to do the mani which is mild steel and leave the de cat? would it be worth it?
  13. ive just had an external wastegate extension and screamer made up as the one that came with my kit didnt fit. found this place by chance on google and the bloke was spot on, fairly pricey for what was done but the level of workmanship from what ive seen is unrivaled. tbh the weding on the bits hes done for me makes the wepr mani look like bird shit welding lol (no offence to wepr as i know the quality is good) he does cages, and well anything fabrication wise. really helpful bloke. i know the website says for classics but its anything, hes currently building (youll like this) a full restor
  14. it just goes through the (i think its the inlet) cam, the cam has a sprung mechanism in it that when the engine gets worn it just makes it have better contact and not be as rattly as it would otherwise be without the mechanism, i dont fully understand the purpose of the service bolt though as the cams go in and out without putting the service bolt in. i was told the above by a toyota technician
  15. what size banjo bolt and accompanying nut i would need with a td04 turbo? the thread is m10x1.5 isnt it? for the td04 oil lines from tmd there is a accesory that one side screws into the turbo, and the other side has a thread that allows your oil line to thread onto it. i know the thread that goes onto the turbo is m10x1.5, does anyone know the thread/ size of the oil line connection?
  16. ^^ wastegates, if its the same bloke hes doing genuine turbosmart ultragate 38s all boxed up brand new for just over £100 quid
  17. there are 2 pipes coming from the standard actuator. one goes to the turbo and the other to the hi-lo boost solenoid yeah? as i have removed the solenoid from the circuit. the problem- it was set up exactly the same before on the old engine. i have one pipe going to the turbo and the other one just to the atmosphere. but it will not release the wastegate, it boost up to fuel cut and would go further. all i have done is removed the metal pipe that connects to the other actuator pipe (not the one that goes to the turbo) and goes up the side of the cam cover. so im just left with a 3inch b
  18. would you recomend me heat wrapping my manifold and de cat. or just the de cat? its a mild steel wepr evolution manifold, and the de cat is stainless. what would you recomend? td04 by the way
  19. sound thanks lads, ill have a word with him ta
  20. i changed my engine this weekend and have swapped everything over from the old one. spotted a leak this morning. its coming from the what i can only describe as the engine side of the thermostat housing, the bit where the turbo water lines and top rad hose connect to, its leaking between that and the engine head. the small black gasket type thing is there, and looks ok, should there be another gasket or is it just this one? where can i get a new one? for the time being i have used some of that instand gasket stuff as i need the car.
  21. good result there mate, hope im about the same when i get it all sorted anyone fancy a rough guess on mine? wepr evolution td04 ext gated kit, td fuel pump, fmic and emanage blue, running at 1bar??
