i absolutly love cars like this. Modernise it completly so its fast, reliable, doesnt handle like a barge, nice inside etc whilst still keeping the classic style and essence of the car. People have been doing this to hot rods for years. Yeah fair enough if i was a collecter i would buy a mint one and keep it concourse but chances are it was a bit of a shed to begin with and they just brought it back to life and made 100 times better than the factory. to be honeset even if it was a split mint gtr i would still love it and want it. Its just like sticking a zetec in a mk1 escort, or fitting a

you can get some series 1 oz superturismos for about 250 quid with tyres if you look hard enough, plus i think they look better than the new ones. TSW have made some good wheels, EVO 1's were sex and today you just cant get hold of them.
-
yeah it would be difficult but i you can fit a 27litre meteor engine into a rover sd1 then i think its possible.

when ever a car wont start i think what you need to get it running, spark, fuel, air these are the absolute basic elements im sure you know. Go through each of them and im sure you will find whats wrong. are you getting a spark, have you tried pulling the leads out with the spark plugs attached and turning it over? is the spark weak? if so you can trace it to ignition. You said your plugs were covered in petrol so your obviously getting fuel but if you are is it enough i.e. try pulling the bottom line out the fuel filter. It should flwo freely. Im assuming your getting air into the engin -
what management are you running with?

Absolutly love it mate, really clean you obviously have taste

Ive done this before, i know the bearings are on the way out on the alternator as its noisy as feck so it needs changing. Water pumps the same believe it or not. Im unsure as to wether my noise is the same as whats been said here.
-
i got this exact same thing, ill be changing my alternator and water pump shortly so will let you know if it makes a difference. If it doesnt then it might be turbo related but the noise doesnt seem to be relative to boost pressure so im hoping its not that.
-
i live in blackrod, ill give ya a flash next time i see ya (so to speak)
-
hey mate nice car, seen you about horwich etc i drive a black ep82 quadlamp if you've seen it. mike

Sounds daft but its kind of a downer when you realise this, happened to me after a few months of driving. Ah the ignorance of youth lol.
