  1. I suppose i they wanted to, theres nothing stopping them now? These guys have done it to a normal road car so whats stopping you from removing the head from the likes of an evo and making a retro fit camless head. The only thing you would need is oil pump drive if its belt driven and a crank angle sensor for timing and ignition etc

The valves would need a separate cpu but nothing mental

And how would you get vtec with no cams? Lol

Or are you saying? "vtec pffft, i rev to 20k bitch!!!" :Pb

Strictly speaking with this type of cam system you can have the lift and advance run linier so there would be no on/off like Vtec is :p

  2. Sorry mate, forgot I had posted in here.

Unfortunately plans have changed and second bike is out the window, plus added up all the bits on the GT and its a bit more than expected.

    Cheers

    mark

No worries, I asumed you had sold the starlet if im honest lol

The search for a buy continues :p

  3. Well, that was a cunt of a job i hope never to have to do again!

For some reason the inner shafts didnt want to come out of the gearbox?

Tried for ages but eventually just split the CV joints.

And the box indeed a nitemare to re-align!

I've still got a couple more things to refit but the bulk of it is finally done after around 6 hours T_T

  4. I will be jacking it unfortunatly but i did my civic the same way and I've done that twice now.

I will be doing it with my friend who is also a mechanic and he has all his tools to hand!

Aslong as i know there isnt anything starlet specific waiting to catch me out ill be all good!

  5. If your removing the AC burn the shit out of the bolt with a blow torch then get some mole grips on it.

If your refitting the AC after burn the shit out of it a bit more carefully :p

Just noticed its the PS but yea same applies!

  6. How do i know when it is the correct tension?

IIRC the correct tension is the belt should only bow if it has more than 10kg of pressure on it and you should be able to twist the belt 70-80degrees once its tensioned up on the pulleys

Cheers ill give it a look when i get home!

  7. Do not overtighten your alternator belt as this can cause the bearing in your waterpump to fail/cease i have seen it happen before and it ended up ruining a freshly forged motor!

How do i know when it is the correct tension?

Like starbuck said, a new belt will stretch see'ing as it's never been on a car before! What i did was got my mate to push as hard as he could on the alternater with a low entry jack handle (as they're really long), and as he was putting all his weight on it i tightened the bolts, simple.

Don't worry about it being 'too tight'.. Don't think it will be tighter than mine is haha.

You do everything all or nothing! xD

  8. Right so recently i had my alternator and PS pump belts changed.

Now not long after its been done its screaming like a motherfucker.

Why would it be doing this? What can i do to shut it the fuck up as it gets right on my nerves that noise lol

Any help is appreciated as always!
