Even that i would suspect is wrong, humans can carry it the same as anything else. All i can say with certainty is i have never caught it from mine and i have been keeping exotics for a fair few years. Will do when i get a chance!

Between me and my girlfriend we have: 7 bullsnakes, normal adult male, whitesided albino male, whitesided axanthic female, patternless normal male and 2 baby whitesided albinos 5 cornsnakes, bloodred adult female, bloodred baby, albino female, albino male and a bloodred anery female 6 hognoses, adult female, adult male, sub-adult male, subadult female and subadult albino male 1 tricolour hognose (temp in our care) 1 spider royal python 1 coastal carpet python 1 crested gecko 1 blue tongue skink and some tarantulas and a few scorpions but that for another time ;)

When i walk the dog there is a huge badger set at the back of one of the feilds and its on a public path way. Saw one rush into it once but it was only a glimpse. Id see them as reasonable to be afraid of because they are physically capable of injuring you, spiders arnt xD

So i take it VVTI's are shit too then? Same thing really. Vtec is what you make of it really, bloody reliable and amazingly powerfull out of the box.

You can get something called callingtonds from ebay, its ment as a mite killer but it will kill all invertabrates. Its expensive but it does work and has a fairly long lasting effect.

But they are so unable to harm you i dont see the differance really. If they were the size of a dog then maybe..
