The guys a con artist aswell I seen this about a month ago or so when I bought a Evo 3 of him. the next day I nearly died when the transfer box locked up on the motorway and locked the rear wheels. And it was in a sorry state when I seen it
If you unbolt the tops of the struts the whole beam drops the near side is easier its the offside that's the problem cuz of the exhaust etc but I used a breaker bar on mine it was hard but did work

Another option could be your slave cylinder has air in it. The thing I find with my LSD box (from a Glanza) in my GT is its really jumpy in reverse like judders f#%k loads
No it wouldn't it would do it on quick changes as the box would still be spinning to fast! Hence when you press the clutch and slow shift it won't grind because its had chance to slow down enough. It's the exact same in my Evo mate
