Neo95 Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Just a quicky, What is the diffrance between to standered shifter an quick shifter apart from the shifting throw!Cheers!! Quote
adzy Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Trd short shifter sits closer to the driver as well Quote
Gainzy Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I've always wanted to try one but never wanted to pay the price's you could have one made. I've read that the trd one's aint that much different from stock throw be nice to have a drive with one! Quote
Neo95 Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 Im wondering what the mechanical diffrrance is?Just to see if I could nock one up like. Quote
morgey Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Longer distance between the pivot and the lower cable attachment. Makes for a shorter throw. If you can weld you can extend your one without too much trouble.I think the trd ones have a taller cradle so that it doesnt hit the floor pan but nothing a few washers wont fix Quote
Neo95 Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 Thats great. Dont surepose you know the distance that it is extended by cuz if you go to much surly the cable will be come stretchedLonger distance between the pivot and the lower cable attachment. morgey Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I dont im afraid. Im still running the oem one. You wont have a problem with stretching the cable as you're not increasing the tension at all. Unless you mean kinking it? In which case you might but youd have to go really long for that to happen Quote

richardc9052 Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I made my own. i shortened the top and changed the angle to suit my driving position and then i just used the piece i removed from the top to extend the bottom. throw some washers under the cradle and its done. Bear in mind that these do take a fair bit of force that you dont notice due to lever effect so make sure any welds on the shifter are solid. i had my first try snap on me. i cleaned it up and re welded it and its fine ever since! Neo95 Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 Yep that sounds like me. How long did you make the bottom knce extended it then? richardc9052 Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 i couldnt say. i think about 20mm maybe more but thats up to you to decide. i measured the distance from the gear cable ball connector to the tunnel in the floor, then measured the distance between the cradle and the centre console. so you can add both up and take like 5-10mm off the total distance and thats the maximum you can extend it and ad spacers under the cradle without fouling anything Quote
