So after a little turn in my car direction, I am back with another starlet (no.7/8)

Still haven't got many pictures of it as Its currently parked at my mates, as I have no room on my driveway yet.

Its a UK spec EP80, 1ltr carb'd

I have a few plans for it but firstly its getting rid of the small amount of rust on the rear arches and get an EFI 4e in there

Also, apparently my car has asbestos in it? Has anyone encountered asbestos in an ep80 before and if so, where is it? Id very much like to avoid playing with that stuff

Asbestos used to be in some gaskets and friction materials so clutch and brake pads or shoes. Its unlikely they are still fitted though I would think. Just don't go licking or sniffing them lol.

Possibly the rear brake shoes contain asbestos if they are original?

Do believe the asbestos is in the clutch friction plate.

Cheers guys, will make sure I avoid munching on any of these bits!

I had one of these. Its in my profile pic :) lightest of the ep8 series. Not even soundproofing in them.

If you need the wiring doing give me a shout, I make them ;)

I was going to have the sound deadening out anyway so thats good!

And I may well call on your services then pal, will need an NA loom making for it compatible with a JDM spec ECU

  • 2 weeks later...

So have managed to get a day off of Uni work and work work, to do some of the starlet.

Fitted an old steering wheel I had lying about as well as a Momo boss and D1 spec removable boss

Also fitted front GT turbo seats, do have the rear ones however not got round to fitting them as the

alternating weather. Had to fit the old seat belt clasps as the ep80 has some real fat buckles for some reason.

Also managed to fit the underseat tray from the ep80 seats to the GT turbo seats which is handy.

Car is currently on 98325miles (my benefit more than anything)

Also have some rear GT Turbo lights which I will fit when time and weather permits.

Also fitted some random other bits, wide angle rear view mirror as I cant live without one

A rather rudimentary cupholder for the vent

Car already has optional floor mats but have fitted the middle rear one to complete the set.

Wanted to fit a flare for JDM points yo and as it happens the original plastics already had the cutouts drawn on for the

flare holder so I just cut them out and fits nicely, even has the little ridge on the backside for the clips to secure too.

Hopefully will be getting a GT Turbo shell soon to start the EFI conversion, looking to get 120bhp as I plan on using a JDM spec ecu to bring standard 4e up to 100bhp with the relevant parts (injectors manifolds etc)

The car is super high and suffers from acute body roll (although somewhat less than my na ep91's) so will be in the market for something to fix that, might invest of some meisters on tick as well
