SpikeyJp_68
Right lads bought an fte engine the other day and saw a hole at the bottom of the block and thought it was fucked. I've since taken the crank out and I've noticed there's 1 at each end. The holes at first looked to be sharp edged as if they were damaged. But looking at it closer the holes are pretty much identical so makes me think they're supposed to be there ???
morgey
Oil drains from the head. The thin sharp edges are just flash in the casting. You can file that off if you wanted to
SpikeyJp_68
So it comes like that as standard ? Thought it was knackered with the edges being so rough I couldn't imagine Toyota leaving it like that. Cheers pal Edited May 30, 2016 by SpikeyJp_68
morgey
Yup. Mass produced so dont have time to clean them all up. Plus its only to allow oil to run down. It wint be a restriction or anything

karl.
Some people belive you should widen them out as it helps release crank case pressure. I have it done to my 5e.
