RenBlue
Hello, having an issue with my toyota starlet 2e engine. When I start the car the exhaust manifold gets hot almost straight away and proceeds to get hotter. Has anyone seen this issue ? Thinking the exhaust is blocked or a timing issue ? I would appreciate any help

RenBlue
Its a carburetor engine. I disconnected the exhaust at the manifold, the problem still occured. I checked the timing, everything seems fine. I thought then maybe it was an over fuelling problem?
RenBlue
I tried a few different things to no avail. I notice a small oil sweep/leak where the cylinder head and block meet. I thought maybe the headgasket was fitted upside that was causing the problems. I got someone to fit one for me 2 weeks ago so I stripped it down today. Is this the right way it goes? It only seems to fit one way ? Edited April 29, 2020 by RenBlue
ChristopherEP70
I think the lot number on the top left should be facing up so that would be the right way Edited April 29, 2020 by ChristopherEP70
