CaroleBaskin91
Evening, all. I am building a 4efte atm, just got a headgasket kit with headbolts (BGA) As I've been following the torquing procedure, one of the bolts on the second tightening @ 33 lbft never clicked and just kept turning until it snapped? I thought I was going to have to remove the head and start on removing the bolt but I unscrewed it and the bolt came out still holding onto the bottom half. Quite obviously overtightened. I used an old bolt (which were actually only in the engine for 4 weeks prior to me buying the engine) torqued it up and it was fine. Is there something that I've done for it to keep on turning past its torque or is this a sign of a weak bolt?
akyakapotter
They are stretch blots so only advised to use them once even arp head bolts only use once. I think that will have been your issue. OE head bolts go 1st 22nm (16.23 ft-lb) 2nd 44nm ( 32.45 ft-lb) 3rd 90 degrees maybe you just had a bad bolt
