ste91 Posted May 6, 2008 Share Posted May 6, 2008 edited so it's not so much of an essayI'm 17 next month and my dads been taking me out recently just driving on carparks and industrial estates so I can learn a bit quicker and hopefully pass quicker.Anyway, I've got my new wheels (thanks Chris (Monkey)) but I don't know wether to put them on the car or wait 'til next month.I still have the standard steelies on there at the moment with hardly any tread left on the tyres. The wheels are taking up space in my room but that doesn't really bother me.So to cut the essay short:Put the wheels on now, which would save space in my room, the car will look better now rather than waiting, and it'd be safer having more tread on them compared to the old ones that are on there now.orWait til next month so there's less chance of me scratching them (I'd have had more practise by then) and leave the car looking crappy for now. ecksjay Posted May 7, 2008 Share Posted May 7, 2008 leave em off for now mate, dont wanna risk em if you've spent your hard earned.you WILL have a prang in the first few months of driving, probably a few, thats life, whether or not you take chunks out of the wheels or ding the bodywork remains to be seen, but if you have the steelies on there then you'll be able to practice getting much closer, and if you do make a mistake then you'll know your limits and learn quicker, if you're going careful to begin with then you'll never actually learn it properly as you'll always be over cautious. Liam_D Posted May 7, 2008 Share Posted May 7, 2008 I was in the same boat as you a few months ago mate. I bought my Speedys and wasn't sure to leave them for a bit or stick em straight on. I put them on for the UKSC Nottingham meet and they have kinda stayed there. My car looks a 1000 times better with them on. I aint learning in mine though so stratching them isn't a issue. No doubt i WILL curb them within my first few months of driving but im expecting this anyway so...I would say go for it mate, as long as you can afford to pay for refurbs. lol.One last thing though mate if you are gonna stick them on make sure you get some locking wheel nuts. I agree with Ecksjay on this one mate, I reversed into a wooden post on my first day of driving , thankfully only had the clio then or it might have been worse.Alex.
