BenV
when i give my car the beans and full boost is used ive noticed that theres a bit of black smoke (kinda like a mist) coming from the back. does this mean my turbo is on its way out?
ecksjay
if the turbo's dying its usually blue smoke, as it'll be burning oil.black smoke 'could' mean the turbo aint as fresh as it could be, but it could also be something else...

ecksjay
check your oil levels mate, if you're dropping any oil at all.

starlybruiser
may be something wrong with the fuel injection?? as black smoke is usually too much fuel, or your air filter could be blocked up so check that too, hope this helps, starlybruiser

ecksjay
my starlet never puffed out black, only white (just a bit of condensation when cold as it was decatted).however, the s14 is a chimney, they all do it. looks like its rediculously overfuelling, but its just what they do. paul w
You will know when your turbo has died, there will be no doubt of the colour! Just ask the guy behind you when he gets out of the smokescreen http://www.turbotechnics.com/docs/turbo/faults.htmhttp://www.turbotechnics.com/docs/turbo/faq.htm
