Asad
seriously, how much would you be pumping out with that lump before something went wrong and the headache you would go through?
pagey
seriously, how much would you be pumping out with that lump before something went wrong and the headache you would go through?it would be on seriously quick starlet tho
Asad
it certainly would......
SiCaln
and one seriously heavy one, join up on TGTT and read all the headaches he has had - no way he has done it for under 10k either id think
Sparky
Yup im sure it was £10k before the thing was even running and its ALOT of work but the potential is immense 600FWHP anyone
SiCaln
wow yea 600whp at the front wheels, so u would go very fast through tyres absolutely no wherewow what a waste of time and effort
Rich
Why go to all the effort and keep it FWD? I still find it funny that one of my old mates from school fitted a 3.0L V6 from an omega into his corsa - can't really see it going round corners.
Jules-B
I have looked at doing this conversion many times, as my brother is an mr2 specialist and we have a couple of 3sgte engines hanging around.to do this properly you would be looking at around 15 grand. And even then its still going to be fwd.My plan was to use gt4 running gear and put it on the starlet so it was 4wd, but again this would cost upwards of 20k and thats doing most of the work ourselves. As for the question of how much it could pump out without any problems, well on stock turbo etc you could see 300bhp easily, with a change of turbo 350 odd is acheiveable.i say just buy an mr2
mattwho
lol i love it that all the people say it cost that much to domy mate just made an EVO-TRO he put a evo 8 engine + running gear ie 4wd into a metro and as the hole thing cost 5 grand and the evo stuff was 3k if you do it your self its cheap as shitits looking like 4sec to 60 and 10 sec qm

With the starlet+3sgte, there is alot of money involved, the best way of doing it involves alot of custom work, ie new floorpans, structural (sp) welding, bodykit to accomadate wider gt4 chassis and suitable engine mounts and braces alike...Even 4wd, the starlet+3sgte isnt going to equal somthing that is as fun as the mr2, in terms of bang for your buck.ie if you spend 20grand on an mr2 you would have an absolute monster. In my opinion these cars are supposed to stay 1.3 for a reason.Ps im wasted so what i said may not make sense
mattwho
i do agre i think they should stay 1.3 but ther comes a time when you want that bit more and you dont want a new car because you love your starbo so the only way to go is bigger but i would not go over a 1.
Sparky
Fairplay to the guy with the metro But I would deffo of put a V6 in the back seeing as it looks like a 6R4, just doesnt sound right with the Evo lumpGod it makes me want to build a 6R4 replica
TBDevelopments
think the easist way would be to drop it over the rear wheels instead and make it rear wheel drive, move the fuel tank etc to the front bonnet to ballance the weight as the engine is now in the back.Or you could be very brave and fit it into the front, add a transmission tunnel and use the running gear from gt4 celica, custom driveshafts and prop and away you go TimTB Developments
Callan
ad it would be gay man, i talk to dan on msn and his starlet (3sgte and 320bhp) wasnt reliable and used to spin up so much on 15"s, i wouldnt do it... plus your cheating as its not a 1.3 anymore and 1.3s will be on your arse because they will have traction
montanajr
Keep it 4E baby! (Or if you really, really want that tiny bit more displacement for more power, get a 5E block!) Seen a couple 5EFTEs go...made mine look as if it was going backwards.
