i shouldent see why not, people say the plenium is too restrictive as its not the right size for a turbo aplication but i think it would be fine up to big bhp

It's been done, there was that custom one aswell where they had extended it by cutting it off at the widest part then welding a bit of pipe onto it, I think it was in the news thing a while ago.
