Standard Air Box Vs Open Filter

Recommended Posts

Im due to get my new turbo set up soon but im stuck with a dilema.

Do I keep the standard air box with uprated pannel filter or get a front mounted air filter set up?

Basically I hate the noise my car makes with a open filter so would prefer to keep the air box set up so i cant hear all the sucking.

BUT

how much power, bhp and torque, will I be sacrificing for my quiet ride?

Any input apriciated, or is there i way i can front mount a filter and it be quiet? Ive only tried open filter on efi and mesh on turbo. Both felt slower anyway and made the sucking noise.

New set up will be Blitz K1 blower and Blitz access ECU running a bar of boost.

Make a custom airbox with a good cold air feed that isn't restrictive at all.

If you don't have ABS you could do it in the bottom corner at the front of the engine bay. Look at mc chu's Glanza and you'll see what I mean.

Would it still not make a load of noise though?
