interloper393
Can anyone recommend some valve springs to use for a 5e turbo build to prevent the valve float? id rather solve the problem than not rev past 7300rpm`s lol.. cheers
ste91
Cruise? But 4EFTE springs are fine for 7300...
Bean
Will you really need to rev a 5e past 7300??
interloper393
id just rather be safe than sorry because if valve float does happen i cn end up wrecking the head and as there no too expensive to buy id rather fit some uprated ones if possible.. this is more the test build at the mo, in the future i plan on a fully forged engine with a 300+bhp aim :surrender:
ste91
Normal 4EFTE valve springs will be fine. All 4E/5E heads are virtually the same except the 4EFTE has stronger springs and the 5EFHE has "better" cams.
interloper393
well i used the 4e head but change over to the 5e cams so i should`nt get valve float then?Thats kewl then lol
Spuddy
The 5E isn;t as rev happy due to the max piston speed being exceeded lower down the rev range than a 4E. Also with the longer stroke the bearings can take a serious kicking if your reving to much. valve springs are the least you should be worried about :surrender:IMO don't rev past 7500 and keep the stock springs. U wont need to go past 7500 anyway.
interloper393
so its 7500rpm? didnt think it was as high as that bud, well thats one less problem to sort lol..
ste91
Well the 5EFHE revs quite high so I wouldn't worry about the bottom end either, it's not like it's revving 8-9-10k rpm, so I wouldn't worry about it aslong as you've got atleast 4EFTE valve springs.
