dave200 Posted June 25, 2009 Share Posted June 25, 2009 hi mate theyre pretty easy to change to be honest aslong as you have the tools you can pull the shaft out without taking the inner joint out of the gearbox if you no what a mean its just 3 circle bearings that attach it to the hub sorry for the sh*t explanation lol good luck Quote Link to post Share on other sites
Steve GT Posted June 25, 2009 Share Posted June 25, 2009 its a lot easier to pull the driveshaft out of the gearbox. to be honest youll struggle to rebuilt the joint with it on the car as theres a ser clip (not sure how its spelled) in the outer joint that youll need to get out and that would be really tricky to do.so id say take the whole lot mate then you can do everything properly and just bang it straight back in Quote Link to post Share on other sites

RobSR Posted June 29, 2009 Share Posted June 29, 2009 i would personally take the whole shaft out, easiest way to do this, take the hub nut off + split pin etc...get the car jacked up, take the 2 nuts and one bolt off the lower arm, and loosen the anti roll bar link. Cut the metal band off that holds the inner boot onto the inner driveshafts mounts/cv. As you have taken off the 3 lower arm nuts/bolts and loosend the ARB links you will have enough movent to "lift" the hub/ball joint out of the lower arm. Then simply pull the hub outwards and the shaft will pop out from the gearbox side. once its cleared the box, you should be able to pull the outer CV/shaft out the hub.Once the shafts out, obviously get the boot and cv off, change the cv, and remeber to put the cir-clip back in.Then just trace your steps backwards...as youve cut off the metal band, you can use cable ties to hold the cv boot on.Put it all back together, and off you go! Dont forget to tighten the ARB links up again though! Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Starlet__SR Posted July 1, 2009 Share Posted July 1, 2009 Unbolt the top two bolts for the hub carrier, undo the 2 bolts and nut on the bottom arm, move out of the way, your choice whether or not to unbolt the caliper, disc etc, but does help, leaving you with the c.v. joint and the driveshaft at your disposal, saves removing the shaft etc:)Damien Quote Link to post Share on other sites
