nicwan8
Hello all,I been getting some rubbing/touching noise when driving in my car without pressing the brakesThis is what I have done and checked:1) New rotors2) New pads and put some brake grease where the piston touches3) Push the piston back4) Grease the pins5) Remove the slides and grease6) Check the slides are moving7) Pump the pedalYet I still can tell/hear the pads are rubbing/touching against the rotor from both wheelsDriver side wheel is spinning much more freely than passenger side. While driving, did hard brake, bedding in and the usual. Car doesn't go side wards when braking, steering doesn't shake, and pedal feels normal and stiff; no vibration. Before I get a mechanic to look at it, is there anything else that might cause this problem? or is it just normal that the pads are meant to touch the rotor.
WallaceGlanza
The pads will be almost touching the disc all the time, if there is noticeable resistance when turning the wheel then its rubbing too much though. However if you've done everything you say you have and everything is greased up nicely then there shouldn't really be a problem unless there is constant pressure in the brake system for some reason. Starlet__SR
The pads will rub till they've bedded in properly, depending on the brand/compound, that could be anything upto 2-3k miles, there may also be air in the system which will cause the brakes to come on ever so slightly,If you want to aid the bed in process, get a sheet of sand paper and rub in a figure of 8 motion, as for the rotors, scotchbrite will rough the surface up fine..Damien
