cleanshavenllama Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Im looking to improve the handling on my SR as it feels like its going to flip, going around corners.Ive looked into this a fair bit, I dont want coiloversWhat I need to know is, what would give me the best results for handling? I was thinking to get an RARB?? Or is there something better I should get first?I have standard SR shocks with Apex 40mm lowering springsThanksAdam. Quote
kevink Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 i Have had an N/A and a Glanza and have fitted all sorts of handling parts:RARBstrutbars> front, rearC-pillar barpanhard rodsshocksand without a doubt for me the biggest difference was in the RARB, so get that first. Even if its the only thing ou get handling wise. Quote

Lee_EP82 Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Yer im also looking at buying a 7 point cusco roll cage and the cusco door bars Quote
StarletRick Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 starlets are pretty limited by the chassis to be honest. all you really need though is a rear adjustable arb, some alti lift plates, decent coilovers and some good tyres. Quote
Nanglebadger Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 c-pillar bar doesnt make a difference??? well i can assure you that on my car it definately made an improvement in handling of the rear end.rear ARB has made a hell of a difference to my car, as did front and rear struts. I've also got a Zisco c-pillar, your Room Bar, your fender bars and I've an antilift kit on order from Nath. I noticed discernable improvements with each addition, but easily the most significant was the ARB and then the struts.Phil. Quote
StarletRick Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 they'll make a difference, but thats because they are so terrible from stock. for the average road starlet all youll need is what ive listed above. Quote
Steve GT Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 pretty much everything you need has been stated mate maybe a full cage on top of that but thats not essentialthe first thing they say to do to a starlet on the EP wiki section is rear anti roll bar and anti lift kiti know you said you dont want coilovers but id consider it mate they make such a massive difference to the handling its unreal lol Quote
cleanshavenllama Posted August 16, 2009 Author Posted August 16, 2009 Think im going to settle for the rear ARB and anti lift plates. The reason i dont want coilies, is because I do a lot of country road driving, with lots of pot holes, and its bumpy enough as it is.Thanks everyone for the input, most helpfulAdam. Quote
StarletRick Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 get coilovers with softer springs then? just because they are coilovers, doesnt mean they are a firm ride. Quote

Lots of coilover brands will cause a poor quality ride but not all of them. My daily driver (a Nissan 200SX with a 6 litre V8 Chevy engine) runs coilovers and they provide a much higher quality ride than the original dampers (40k miles and still in good working order) fitted with Eibachs that they replaced. Steve GT Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 most good coilovers have adjustable hardness/softness settings you can make them hard as fuck so it nearly shatters your spine or so soft it feels better than standard. so just cause there coilovers doesnt mean its going to be a harsher ride Quote
StarletRick Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 hold your horses... is that Bren from apex? what you doing on here mate Quote
mcleod Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 where did the people who have rear trailing arm poly bushes get them from????they say toytuning but ive checked and can't find them Quote
