Wantaglanz
Hey guys, I have a glanza, when its cold and underload, their is a screetching and tapping noise thats getting worse and worse, it used to only do this when it was cold but now its almost all the time, its fine if your gentle with the throttle but going up a hill or going quick it taps and screeches, almost like a fanbelt noise, it sounds like its coming from the top of the engine but when you listen close is from the bottom, i dont know wether to strip it down and get new parts, get a whole engine or to swap the interinals with another block? any ideas? ive only had it for a month! Steve GT
mines started doing this lately too. but not as serious as yours mate. i either think its fan belt or someone said it could be the turbo bearings going. too be honest i do think it might be turbo related so id consider that too
ste91
Screeching is probably the alternator belt.I may be wrong but that tapping noise is possibly det, what fuel do you run it on?
Amjad
I had fanbelt screech on my 4efe corolla, worth checking it isn't one of the belts before you do anything else?
Wantaglanz
brand new belts and its comring from the right hand side of engine, i dont think its turbo becuase its tapping aswell, when the tapping goes the screech goes, i used to work in a garage on audis but im not familiar with this engine and i dont work in a garage anymore, maybe ill take a video of the noise and post it, thanks for the replies guys. Glanza_Ragger
Does it sound like this? If its a belt, it wouldnt tap as well..could be the bearing but that would mean rebuild time Doesnt have to be as loud as that in the video, but thats just to give you an idea.
