chr15_7_t_ Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 anyone ever put a 5e head on a 4efte? can this be done and is ther any gains? Quote
ste91 Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 It's exactly the same apart from 4EFTE valve springs are slightly stronger.Unless you use a 5EFHE head which has different cams. Other than that it's pointless. Quote
riko666 Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 It's been done several times - they are essentially the same head, the only difference being the camshafts and obviously the valve lifters. Gains are definitely to be had, but as for actual objective results, I at least have not seen any - Toby of ToyTuning used to claim about 15-20bhp gain on a stock 4E-FTE.But yes, more lift/duration (can get exact figures easily), and they generally improve the powerband in the upper rpm range Quote
chr15_7_t_ Posted October 4, 2009 Author Posted October 4, 2009 so a 5efhe head is nothing but gains for my car ? Quote
rmsnoel Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 there is a difference between N/a 5efe cams and 5efhe n/a cams which have more lift r duration. Which are you talking about? Quote
chr15_7_t_ Posted November 12, 2009 Author Posted November 12, 2009 i done the swap mate and it did work ...it was ever so slightly diferent though..id have to get more suporting mods and probly a remap for it to make a noticable diference. Quote
StarletRick Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 the fhe head is the same.... there is only one type of head for the 4E and 5E. the differences are in the cams/springs. from personal experience, here is what i have found. 4EFE - nothing4EFTE - stronger valve springs. 5EFE - nothing5EFHE - stronger valve springs. 5EFHE ACIS - one of the cams has a higher lift/stronger valve springs. chr15_7_t_ Posted November 12, 2009 Author Posted November 12, 2009 its for the higher lift that i was told i would need more suporting mods and a remap Quote
StarletRick Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 na, wouldnt need anything to be honest. its only an extra 1mm of lift on the intake. to be honest, you wouldnt feel it on the car. it might make couple of HP higher up in the rev range at best. Quote
