southamptonstarlet
Hi guys I have enjoyed my little starlet so much am looking to build a track car for 2007 and would appreciate some help and advice on the following.1. What model would be best to carry out an engine conversion?2. Which engine and gearbox would be the easiet and biggest power hike for the starlet? Thanks
Guest Enzo
hey man this is soemthing ive been thinking about alot, turning mine into a track car or buying a banger out of the blue paper and stipping it,if i was to do it id get an ep91,but im sure the ep82 and ep71 are lighter so they would probably be the best bet, simply the 4efte would give you the best power hike in a conversion man
jap_crap
hello gents.just to say mine is a track car. mine is a bare shell EP82 Advanced.im involved with sprint racing. because its a turbo it is in the 1401cc to 2000cc catorgry.i normally race against the likes of vts, 1800 xr3i, an old morgan, a bmw mini thing, pug 307 touring car which is the only thng thats beats me!!!! grrrits very much away from the standard car pushing just under 200bhp at the wheels with 187lbs torque and in a car that weighs 714kgs (been on weigh bridge) it seems to work VERY well!!!!the best thing, Ive managed to keep her road legal!!!! wastegate_flutter
get a 4x4 starlet n covert it to turbo
tinman
Didn't there build a ep91 in south africa which was a 4x4 & had a 2ltr lump in it? please correct me if i'm wrong, its just what the parts bloke at toyota was tellin me & i thought he was talkin shit!!!! scutch0
nah mate. they made the ep95 which was a 1.5 diesel 4x4 version of the n/a spec ep91.
starletgtt
Didnt Fensport drop a Celica GT4 lump into their 200mph corolla?Would that be a viable idea as you can tune them to 400BHP +Not sure if it would be possible but a suggestion
scutch0
yeah, i think thats right... but as a track car a 2.0L turbo engine over the front wheels wont outhandle much on the track i guess.
Guest Enzo
there has been an 82 in newzeland with a 3sgte lump driving the front wheels,440 brake, also in nz quest four put an fte lump with 250bhp in an ep95 a few years back, same things been done in i think it was greese not that long ago, fensports celica was making 700bhp at onepoint. cerberus
well guys i dont know much about the starlet and if this is possible but its possible on a nova. basically turn the subframe round so the car is rear wheel drive and then you can pritty much choose an engine for ure car as it wont matter ive driven a rear wheel drive nova witch had a lotus carlton engine in the back of the bloody thing it was absolutly leathal and lasted about 3 mounths of track use befor the crappy nova chassis gave up the ghost and started ripping welds apart. But this just goes to show you what can be done with some angle iron and a mig welder.I live in southampton too and would gladly help on any project youve got going if you need help that is (plater fabricator here).
