BAZ2CRAZY
Ok so. long story short;Welded my decat because it was cracked. The flange warped slightly so wasnt 100% flat. Upon re-fitting it, i was tightening up one of the nuts, slowly pulling the flange true. Then SNAP goes the stud.Ive never been in this situation before... and im so pissed off at myself. My questions are: Am i completly fucked? Can i remove the stud?If so, shall i remove the whole lot? (turbo, manifold etc) then tackle it.What shall i do about the warped flange on the de-cat?Mitch
WallaceGlanza
Those studs can be removed easily and new one's bought from toyota, not really a big problem.

BAZ2CRAZY
Thats all i wanted to hear lol. Would you advise me to remove the whole turbo setup and tackle it?TaarMitch
riko666
just remove the stud with some pliers, buy a new one, put it in finger tight, and its done. Alternatively, you can use a bolt if it'll fit with the downpipe!
WallaceGlanza
Thats all i wanted to hear lol. Would you advise me to remove the whole turbo setup and tackle it?TaarMitchNo. You should easily be able to get the stud out with the turbo in place, just get some mole grips on it. Russleh
you need studs like the ones on mine. they come off themselves sometime its great you should manage to do it no problem with the turbo on.
BAZ2CRAZY
Ok, Ive given up completely for the evening, so il give it another crack tomorrow.Think i need a torch and a big hammer to flatten the flange.hmmMitch
andy.i
easy peasywd40 it then put one nut on half way down, then another nut on and put them tighten them against each other, then use the back nut to twist the stud out. thats if youve got enough thread.if not, mole grips and a hammer
BAZ2CRAZY
Yeah, i get you... only theres no thread lol. Thanks for the replys .Now... any one got a decat flange nice a flat before? Think thats why it snapped to be honest.Mitch
andy.i
if there isnt room for mole grips, i see there is a bit of thread left, put a nut on and weld it
Starlet__SR
Want me to come round and have a look Mitch? Looks like it can be removed in situ, or I can always take it away and do it if you wish?Damien
Sparky
As said not a major problem you can get a pair of decent pliers on there or weld a nut to it and undo it (I had to do that to my turbo hotside pipe before!!)If you got loads of bolts lying about you could try fitting one of them other than getting a new stud from Toyota
Starlet__SR
And if you want I can always make a set of studs up out of high tensile steel tooDamien
BAZ2CRAZY
Thanks for the help. I was just worrying that the stud was designed to... stay in.Damien- il see how it goes mate, but i might take you up on that offer il post up how its going.
