ste91 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Right I've been looking for insurance all evening, I thought I was sorted because last week I'd been on some comparison websites and got some reasonable prices £1000-£1100 third party only which were reasonable. But I phone them up and they say they can't insure me? Fucking waste of time, why bother putting it on the fucking website if it's not real! The cheapest "non bullshit" quote has been over 3 grand which is a fucking joke! Some companies say they wont insure me because of the performance of the car. Yet another crock of shit, I could get quotes for a Starlet GT, which 1; is a jap import and 2; is slightly faster than a CRX on paper. So does anyone know of any specialist insurers or anything like that, ones that don't show up on comparison sites, etc... Quote
Starlet__SR Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Churchill? I'll try find the number for a specialist I used when I had the turbo. They were brilliant, all mods covered like for likeDamien Quote
new blue Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 im with tett hamilton but got 2 years no claims £430 tpft with alloys and airfilter added.on my glanza turbo fresh import.the phonenumber is 01275856618 hope theycanhelp you. Quote
glanza179 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 My CRX SiR import was insured with direct line granted i had 5 years no claims but was only paying £430 fully comp went down to £390 when i put the CAT1 alarm on itJim Quote
ste91 Posted November 27, 2009 Author Posted November 27, 2009 Oh I forgot to mention I'm only 18 with 1 years NCB.I know most people will think "dream on" or whatever but I did actually get a fair few quotes for a Starlet GT around £2k.I really can't understand why the CRX is more expensive. Maybe the insurance companies don't realise what a Starlet GT/Glanza is lol. Quote
glanza179 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 what CRX is it, just a UK D16? or a VTEC? my one of my ex girlfriends has a UK D16 as her first car when 17 and she was only paying £1000 fully comp on it all mods declairedshe was with some specialist company thoughJim Quote
glanza179 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 your gonnna struggle mate, insuance companies and the word VTEC dont mix well, and on paper the CRX is faster than a GT in standard spec. plus its the 1.6 factor they wont like.Jim Quote
ste91 Posted November 27, 2009 Author Posted November 27, 2009 Ah right, I'm well pissed off with it because I thought I was sorted when I'd looked on the comparison websites. Really fucks me off when things are looking good then you get knocked down again. And some of these insurance call centre people are complete idiots. One of them asked me what my last name was and I didn't quite hear them so I said "could you repeat that please". And they thought I'd said my last name was Please! Morons! Quote
rorenapier Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Yep at 18 you will struggle.Just to point out, the CRX is faster in standard trim than an EP - Proven many a time.Anyway, try bell.com or Adrian flux.My twin is only around 800 a year fully comp and his has a turbo strapped to it through A/F Quote
ste91 Posted November 27, 2009 Author Posted November 27, 2009 Tried Adrian Flux the other day, at first they said £1700 which I thought was ok considering alot of people say they're really good, but then the phone went dead and when I called them back saying I'd just spoke to someone bla bla bla... they denied it all so I reckon someone made a cock up lol.
