Lot Of Air Out Of Breather On Top Of Engine

Recommended Posts

hi guys, i just read all the info i could find and i really want your opions on this.

I've got a breather filter in place and my pcv valve where it should be.

i noticed my breather filter got really oily so i pulled i off while the engine was running and it is blowing huge amounts of air out....

2 possible options i guess:

pcv valve of piston rings... (really hope its pcv)

the thing is when I throttle a bit it stops blowing air out the vent(where i have a breather filter)

does that clearly point the problem to a faulty pcv or does that surely mean the piston rings are fucked?

thnx for hte fast reply Rick, kind of comforting to hear that.

what about the part that when i push the throttle it doesn't blow anymore?

i would think that if it were the piston rings it would only build up more pressure as the pistons move faster.

or is that wrong to think that?

hi guys,

i checked my pcv valve but it works as it should.

No smoke whatsoever, so thats a good thing.

I replaced the filter with an oil catch can that breathes freely.

I think the amount of blowing is normal, car does not show any other signs of worn piston rings.

I am going to replace the rocker cover with a completly clean one.

will do when i get the chance.

With the oil catch can hooked up i can can an eye out how much oil it really spits out.

Driven it for 2 days now and nothing in the catch can so far, the hose running to the oil catch can is only slightly oily, but thats normal.
