Starlet__SR
If its worth much more than your gt, why is he offering a straight swap??Damien
Raz
You can get TDI upto 130 BHP And GT TDI upto 150 It's afcourse not going to be as fast as your GT but you will get better MPG probabbly more torque. I still personally won't go for it, i've been in big diesel cars (3.2 CDI 224BHP) I'ts at the end of the day a diesel and that model golf has allot of electronic probs My bro had a MK4 TDI 130 BHP. But up to you if it's in good cond. then go for it.by the way 140K for a diesel vw engine is nothing atall, it will go on and on and on and guess what it'll still go on! Idrees
I'd swap it Chris. I've been checking these out on the market, you could probably sell it for £2.5k at the least. They don't go very cheap, well not as cheap as I expected to be fair!
chr15_7_t_
told him im going to have a closer look at it on thursday
Amjad
Yep as Idrees said they have good market value..Mileage isn't really an issue with these engines, I've driven a 200k mile MK4 90bhp TDi which is still going strong!
turbojim
i wouldn man there slow as piss my starlet on tdo4 low boost bet a friends one and his had a load of stuff done to it
Raz
WOOW, Hold on a second mate, Why did he offer it to you? He obviously envys your car due to speed and accelaration and or something is wrong with his golf?

chr15_7_t_
its soo tempting for any of them..the corsa red tops cause the fact ther 2.0l lol the 02 because its 9years newer and the golf, well becasue its german reliability
Asad
what abut jap reliability!!!
stevenc89
Keep it, then fly past them with a big grin I had a tidy corsa 1.4 sri corsa b and c and If you would like a nice change, go for the corsa b redtop, really quick mate and as simple to fix as all vauxhalls lol if you are happy with your starlet then do not swap. Then again the saying "do not live you're life with regrets" comes into play here
chr15_7_t_
jap reliability? are u jokin me lol...ive had nufn but problesm but i stil love the starlet . going to see one of the red tops thursday and another sat
Jae-Glanza
VW diesels will live forever, My old red scirocco was a 1988 1.8 PETROL, and it had 190,000 on the clock, still being driven daily now =]As for corsa redtop's, They are easy engines to work on, but you'll be working on them every weekend! Three of my friends has Corsa c20xe redtops, There was never a time when they were all on the road, one got fixed, the other one broke.
chr15_7_t_
are they quicker than your glanza?good part about corsa ther so many of them around for parts
Jae-Glanza
Two of my mates binned there's because they were shit and kept breaking down! One of them still has his purple one tho, He's on his 2nd year of owning it and i swear to you mate, He's on his 3rd engine, now he just drives it to and from work. I Had a play with him on one occasion when mine was completely standard, Both went for it and he didnt pass me untill the end of 3rd gear. Don't get me wrong chris, i do like corsa redtops. My mate let me drive his purple one and its a monstor inside and bundles of fun! Have consider one many a time, but you just never know what your getting yourself into, Who's done the conversion? have they done it properly? Plus its inevitably going to end up with problem after problem. If your pretty handy on motor's and dont mind working on them (i love working on my car) then its not so bad, just don't rely on it to start every morning when you need to get to work =]
