After weeks of thinking about getting rid of my Glanza, it's finally been sold, but now im torn between a few car's i now want to buy.

One of them being a X reg Audi s3 with a 1'8 turbo lump in it.

If any has one or has any any feedback on this car i'd be be very interested to hear?

mate had a 150bhp A3 Turbo took it to Jabba Sport and it came back with 237bhp.

exhaust, manifold, sports cat, filter and remap.

Then he bought an S3 225bhp took that to the same place and with just exhaust and remap came back with 270bhp.

Quick, reliable cars but just a bit boring imho.

Get a GT4 as suggested :)

lmfao!! your 19 insurance is a killer and you sold your cheaper to run glanza for:

1. audi 18.t - drink fuel, full of problems with electrics like all vag cars and will rust

2. cellica GT4 - drink fuel verey heavy! import so pricey insurance (drove one yesterday and was gutted at how shit it was compared to the v)

3. vtec - slow and expencive to insure and most importantly no boost! need a vetec controller to make them quicker.

4. scoobys - drink fuel and expensive to insure

see a pattern developing anyone? and before anyone says im wrong I've had experience with them all lol starlets for the win ever time, cheap to insure, run, and loads of potentiol to be a monster slayer with the right setup :)

Sorry mate but that's a crock of shit about VTEC. You don't need a VTEC controller lol...

Any Civic with a standard B16 will be just as quick as a standard Starlet, not to mention handle better as standard and not run out of puff so soon because of being a bigger engine. Of course there's more tuning potential with a Starlet because it's a turbo but then you can turbo a B16 and run more power on standard B16 internals than you could on a standard 4EFTE.

Don't get me wrong I am a massive Starlet fan and love them they're great little cars but can't stand it when people go around with their "Starlet blinkers" on and call Honda's slow just because they hear other people saying things like "VTEC is shit".

lol had a b16 mate and will defo give it to you that the handeling is miles better no agument there but vtec should be brought i lower down to make them more drivable off of duel carrigeways and motorways! as i stated i have had experience with all the formentioned cars and have driven alot more high performance and jap cars than most so starlet blinkers is somthing i dont have but will also agree turboing a b16 would be a great car without a doubt but missing the point is the lad is 19 and will get bent over on insurance on most if not all of thoese cars and i still maintain a non turbo car is fun for a while but then becomes boaring unless you can afford the insurance to cover tb's, super chargers or turbo conversions!

you cant really adjust the cross over point any lower than what its already at, maybe 5k at a push,

but not much lower, it also wont generate any more power because of it.

the only reason id have a controller is to raise it, so when im going on long journeys i dont go into tech after 95.

sorry to stray off topic.

stay away from the vtec though, it will eather make your drive like a fanny everywhere or the lack of torque low down will really piss you off after a while or when your trying to take someone out. unless your in tech its no fun playing catch up.

starlets for the win ever time, cheap to insure, run, and loads of potentiol to be a monster slayer with the right setup

this is whats swayed it for me for the past 9 years. only problem though there are a few diesels that ive been hankering after recently

doing 40k miles a year is whearing on me financialy

id be running a diesel if i where doing that millage mate, i used to use a van as a runabout and a starlet for the weekends when i used to work all over the country better fuel economey than a small engine turbo car :)

Paul yes the lower spec ones suck but I'd buy an Evo 5/6 or 2Dr Type-R over a GT4 ANYDAY of the week.

Like I've said my mate who is a GT4 lover cannot deny how great Scoobies drive.

Ive driven an evo 8 fq 300 something or other and a uk wrx '04 plate scooby and neither seemed that special tbh. don't get me wrong they are both very good cars, im not denying that but they both seemed a bit uninspiring for want of a better word.

An st205 will hold its own against the equivilant evo/scooby.

If we are talking about a st185 then yes, a Starlet is just as quick in a straight line :)

plus everyman and his dog has an impreza.

suppose everyone has there preffered choices :)

Thanks for everyone's imput and all the advice. I have got myslef an insurance quote im happy with and ive found myself a cheap Audi A3.

Tbh keeping a clean licence is more import than speed.

I loved my Glanza and know that it will be alot faster than the Audi im about to buy, but it's untouched with oem leather and it's an all round good looking car something both me and my girlfriend are after.

Well if you look how over hyped Escort Cosworths are, and how no one talks about GT-Fours, it's funny to think the ST205 GT-Four is slightly better.

I'd have a 22B or P1 Impreza any day but normal Impreza's are far too common.

Evo's are too full of electronic gadgety stuff although I do like the older models.

I'd probably still take a GT-Four but it would have to have some money spent on it. The 3SGTE is a very good engine.
