Just about everywhere you go to shop for tires, there is some kind of table that tells you if you have this size wheel, buy this tire. No where do I see them take into account the width of the wheel. I have seen 15 X 5.5 wheels as well as 15X7.

Does not the wheel width matter when selecting the size of tire?

For example, I currently have 15X6.5 wheels. Prior to that, I had 15X5.5 off of a mini cooper. Both called for a 195/50/15. The 6.5 feels planted a lot better to the ground.

I'm running 195/50/15 on the 100+ multispokes.. 195/50/15 are popular on alot of 15 inch alloys, they were the standard tyre size on the Galliano's 15's too.

5.5 sounds too small for 195 width tyres, they must have hung over the wheels a bit? (Which would explain the 6.5's feeling more planted, as the tyre walls aren't hanging over the wheel).
