Whitegv
firstly i know this isnt a big deal to some people out there, that do this kinda thing day in day out or whatever.well i spent yesterday afternoon swapping my gearbox for a new one and putting a new paddle clutch in. ive never done it before and am really happy about how long it took me to do and how simple it is when following the guides on here.id advise anyone who's a bit apprehensive about doing work on there cars themselves to just have a go at it, take your time and follow the how 2's if your not sure. thats what i did and it worked out perfectly.it makes me feel ill now looking back over the last few years how much ive paid mechanics and garages to do jobs like this for me. i dont think ill ever really be using a garage again now, parts cost me £300 for gearbox clutch and release bearing, clutch is a spec 6 paddle clutch rated to 300bhp. cant imagine what a garage would charge me in labour to fit them both, so as well as saving my self some dosh ive done a job that ill be more than happy to do again and learnt some more about my car ;)all in all a succesful day

Idrees
Good man. ;)You guys pay £200-300 to fit a gearbox? Blimey, £100ish in my area. But still better to do it yourself!
Amjad
Good effort!I'm gonna need a clutch soon, wish I knew how to do it myself ;)
Whitegv
the how to post on how to do it is in the tuturials and how to section ;) provididng you have a good selection of tools and some axel stands and a good jack (trolley preferably) you should be able to do it.im an electrician by trade but do have a lot to do with cars and farm machinery so spose im at a bit of an advantage but tbh it was ALOT easier than i expected, its not like you have to take the gearbox to bits or anythiing, just litterally drop it out, take clutch off, replace and bolt it all back together
Amjad
Cool I'll give it a look when it comes to buying a new one ;)
