from cold take your rad cap off, turn your heater to the hottest setting, start the engine and top up the rad, let it warm up with the rad cap off and that should expell any air in the system mate

Cheers. I changed the coolant at the weekend and it seemed a touch warmer. Just not sure if the thermostat is duff

what does the engine temp do when its running? does it get warm or always stay cold?

It gets warmm gradually but sometimes goes down. It goes up when sat in neutral but sometimes goes down when im just doing general driving.
