No power to the windows or central locking

Recommended Posts

HI GUYYYYYYYYYYYYYYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since I bought MURX the windows and central locking hasn't worked on either side, I've checked wiring and used a power probe to try and figure it out but I'm not that great with electrical fault finding lol... None of the fuses are burnt out, all are fine.

I wondered if it could be a relay? If so which one would the locks and windows be connected to??? I also understand the motors may be dead, I haven't tried putting power directly to them yet, but I figured it to be something else as it's a bit of a coincidence if the locks don't work as well, seeing as it all goes to the driver's door panel?....

Any help would be veregh niaiiiiiice :p

Much love

Yeh it could be a mechanical fault in the doors maybe. Maybe someone's had them off before. Take the door apart and try to watch what happens through the gaps and down the top. See if you can spot anything.

Can you hear the motor trying to work in the doors for the windows? Can you hear anything trying?

Also, your sig; I see you couldn't afford Photoshop, haha.

Done all that mate lol. Nothing from the motors. Going to change the relays and see if anything changes.... And my sig is done in PS you cheeky bitch lol! cba to download brushes n do this and do that. I'd rather try and do most of it when I'm taking the actual photo.... Has a better feel to it in my opinion!

Check to see none of the wires have broken under the insulation where they go between the door shut and interior of the car..it's abit of a pain but it's quite often for them to break when they get old and brittle.. Especially when your opening and closing your door all the time..

Checked there mate and no damage. Anyone else got any advice?

Is there any way of checking a relay? Also can you just buy relays in B&Q or somewhere alike, or would I need to get one off another starlet or from toyota?

also, the driver's door motor was burnt out and I have now replaced that  but still no difference with power to the windows or central locking (basically no power to the control panel). Also, nothing happens when I apply power to any of the cables on the panel when it is all connected.....

Does anyone know where the earths are inside the car? I found one in the driver's footwell but that one is nice and tight...

Ok... Does anyone know where the relay for the windows is? Both central locking and motors work fine now and I can opperate either with a power probe.

Failing that does anyone have a wiring diagram?

Does anyone know which wires supply the 12v to the windows/central locking panel? There are a couple blue ones with different coloured stripes, couple of reds etc? Really would like this done and dusted for japfest on Friday night lol...
